The Worcester Art Museum (WAM) has been voted multiple times one of the best medium size museums in the country and you'll see why very quickly. Not only does the museum have 35,000 permanent works of art but the inside of the interior of the museum is also a work of art that has been featured in movies including The Maiden Heist. Always new exhibits are coming in and WAM has an excellent reference library. If you're in the Worcester area definitely stop in and enjoy it. WAM often has free access days sponsored by local companies so you may want to call to see if and when they are offered.

They have Peaceable Kingdom here; I never knew... They have some neat exhibits including an actual chapel and some beautiful mosaics and treasures from Pompey. John Singer Sargeant portraits, and other treasures.

We have been going to this museum regularly since 1997. We usually come at least 6 times a year. Their collection is superb - not as overwhelming as at some larger museums, but very representative, with some great works by major artists such as El Greco and Monet. The collection of Dutch artists is probably the best in the world outside of Holland. They have great antique collections too and a very interesting cloister room from a French abbey moved into a museum. On top of that, there are a lot of very fun events and classes at the museum. They have theme dance and entertainment parties and the classes are, again, among the top in the country, both for adults and kids. Well worth the visit! A hidden gem.
