“Poor attitude, Slow Service, OK Food”
Reviewed February 23, 2014

The place was way understaffed and the hostess seemed to be very overwhelmed. We were told 30 mins for a table and after 60 mins when we inquired about our table she snapped us saying "there's only one of me you know". Really? I think she's in the wrong line of work. After waiting an hour we were finally seated and the delays continued. Our waitress was pleasant enough but kept saying how busy she was because they "had a large party" in the back. Fine we get it. Busy Saturday night. We finally ordered and it took literally 45 mins for our cheese platter to come out. A few pieces of cheese, a few nuts and a few pieces of bread. Way too small and way over priced (see pic) but we got a good chuckle over it. I will say the Roast Pork sandwiches (when they finally came) were very good but then again this is about 2 hours after we arrived so I suspect shoe leather would have tasted good at that point. Armesby Abbey is one of those establishments that seems to have a high sense of entitlement and no strive for excellence. They could have cared less about making people wait and made no effort to accommodate. There's just too many choices in the area (other restaurants that make genuine effort to please) to put up with it. My recommendation, stay away.

“Cool spot for late drinks”
Reviewed February 19, 2014

We stopped at Armsby Abbey late after dinner for some drinks. The place has a very cool vibe. The bar was a bit dark, but that I think adds to the cool factor. The beer selection was excellent, with a great selection of craft beers from around the world both on-tap and bottled. The drinks were good, the bartender friendly and the bar inviting. We had quite the time chatting and people watching. We'll be back to enjoy some finely crafted brews again.

“Liars”
Reviewed February 8, 2014 via mobile

First a quick tip to the owners: have a staff that has the courage to tell large tables who are just drinking beers or water that "there are people waiting but you're welcome to hang out at the bar." You'll make more money and have a better reputation.

I was SO excited to eat here and my husband and I expected a wait on a Saturday night. We happily settled in for our 45 minutes the hostess quoted us by standing near the bar. But an hour and fifteen minutes later, we'd had enough of being ignored. The only "update" we got was and hour into the wait asking if we'd be willing to do community seating. We said "of course!" Forty-five minutes later, still nothing.

The food looked good, if only I'd
gotten to taste it...or even sit down.

“EXPENSIVE AND LOUD”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

Too loud, too crowded, too expensive, not worth it. If you are a hipster and want to tell about the fancy semi local pilsners you can afford this is the place for you!
