“No problem except for parking”
Reviewed November 14, 2012

We decided to travel on the 10.45am ferry to the island on a Sunday and got to the area in plenty of time only to be told that the parking area was back in Falmouth! So back we went and got the bus to the terminal with 5 minutes to spare. It's not obvious that the parking for non-employees is not on site, so it's something to bear in mind if you're driving. The ferry itself was great, clean and efficient, the staff were nice and the journey was lovely:-) Glad we went.

“customer service under adverse conditions”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

Our family made a choice to travel on the SSA after a major Nor'Easter storm. Coast Guard forced the SSA to shut down for two (2) whole days. The following day was when we attempted our travel on the ferry. Of course we knew this would be difficult based on the previous days. So while we had to wait for a while to get a ferry that we could get our vehicle on, the management people and the Union SSA crews were present and eager to respond to our concerns.

Of course beyond this scenario we experienced a good time on the SSA ferry. The galley by Centerplate is very welcoming with hot coffee, cold drinks, award winning Chowder, Chili or Stew, and other snacks. The Union crews on board seem to work tirelessly to get the vehicles and passengers where they are supposed to be, safely, and in efforts to keep the ferry on schedule.

I will always turn to SSA for my travel needs to and from MVY!

“Easiest way to get to the Vineyard from Woods Hole”
Reviewed November 12, 2012

I'm a local and like the convenience of the Steamship Authority. We use it to take our car over to the Vineyard in the Summer. Great snack bar and staff. Shuttle bus is convenient. Embark and disembark is a breeze.. Also very easy to drive on and off with your vehicle.
