“Reliable and picturesque”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

There are several ways to get to Martha's Vineyard but we found the Steamship Authority to be well run, reliable and inexpensive. We went in October which is a lot less crowded, but even so, they have convenient satellite parking lots with shuttles to Woods Hole making it easy to get in and out without traffic jams. The ride on the boat itself is pleasant with either outside seating or indoors with tables for those who prefer to get things done during the trip. Tickets can be purchased right before getting on the boat and there is a nice waiting area with restrooms. You may come home on any of their many ships and from any town on Martha's Vineyard making your travel a little more flexible. The views from the boat make the ride even more pleasant.

“Martha's vineyard”
Reviewed October 22, 2012

We went in Oct. and most stores/shops were closed. It was also very similar to Woods Hole/Famouth. Probably not worth the trip that time of year.

“Nice Ferry Trip !”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

We arrived to take the normal ferry and were offered an earlier trip on the freight boat which was fine and saved us 2hrs. We returned a few days later on the normal ferry boat and this is good and functional The arrival and ticketting arrangements were very efficient and the Police supervision to enter the roadway after disembarking at Martha's Vineyard a welcome calming influence
