Wow. Never, ever knew the definition of "bad Chinese" until a recent visit to this place. We have eaten there in the past, but have not been in a few years, so we decided to try it again. I recalled it being a bit pricier than most other places in the area...ie...there are no dinner plate specials and the lunch specials end at 3:00. But, we don't mind paying a little more for quality. The buiding itself is very pretty. Lots of fancy decor. We were impressed with the "Zagat Rating" emblem on the front door. The bar area was full - lots of patrons imbibing on bottled beer and exotic drinks....we skipped this since we were out for a family dinner and had our 9 year old son with is. We were seated in the dining room which oddly, was completely empty, large, and not much heat. No atmosphere at all...then again, you don't eat atmosphere. The waitress came over and just looked miserable and her discontent reflected in the service. We decided on several different appetizers and white rice. The first round of appetizers came out the kitchen suspiciously fast. Everything crammed on 1 plate....some of it was cold, what wasn't cold was overly cooked as it if had already been made ahead-of-time and plunged back into oil to reheat upom ouir ordering. So, we sat, and sat....and sat...and waited. 45 minutres went by and my husband called the watiress over (who should have been more attentive) and asked where the rest of the order was. She informed us that the Dim Sum dumplings take 20 minutes to steam. Umm.....ok...that's twice as long as we had been sitting there. Finally, they arrived. Now, where the heck is the white rice? Isn't that a staple in Chinese restaurants? Where was the terriyaki? How long does that take? The meal came out, painfully, in pieces...instead of served all at once as you would expect. After all that, it wasn't even good. When the check came, we felt really ripped off. The services was bad, the atmosphere was bad, the food was...you guessed it...bad! They could have comped us a drink or something while we waited. This place was just awful. To top it all off, the bathroom was filthy and there was an old nasty pink "stick up" (do they even still make these???) on the bathroom door. I suppose, if I were in the area and it were just me and my husband or a few friends, I might stop in the bar for a drink and some finger food. After a couple of drinks, I wouldn't care what the food tasted like anyway. Otherwise, never again! In all fairness, i have heard that this place has good Dim Sum durung lunch hours. Maybe that is what they are known for. We went for an early dinner on a Sunday afternoon.

The food had very little taste. We ordered chicken fingers, pork fried rice, spare ribs, terryaki chicken and Moo Goo Gai Pan. Terrible. The food appeared to have been standing for a while before we were served. I know those are typical tourist dishes, but they should get their act together. The Mai Tais were watery and not very tasty. We didn't even bother to drink them or eat our dinner. We left very unhappy.
The only thing we can say about this place is that they have fun entertainment. Avoid the food. Have dinner before you visit this place. Buy a bottle of beer if you wish to drink.

Awful Chinese food. Panda Express (or similar) from a mall food court is better...

If you like Dim Sum, but don't want to deal with Chinatown and all the parking and traffic headaches, China Pearl is good. Prices similar to Chinatown. Although it does get busy on weekends if you go during peak times (11 am on).

I find the selection good and food just as good as Chinatown. They also take reservations which is nice for dim sum.
