The Winthrop Arms is an inexpensive hotel to stay in if you are looking for some place that is clean, comfortable and close to Boston and the airport. The train to Boston is a good walk from the hotel, but very doable. You can catch the Blue Line from Beachmont Station and it will take you straight into town. A short, one stop ride on the Green Line takes you right to Boston Common. The hotel is older, but well kept up. It seems to be a family run business and every person I met was friendly and helpful. The parking on the street is bothersome, as there are many signs posted about not parking here or there at certain hours. I stayed during October, but I imagine this place is a great place to stay during the summer. It is right by the ocean and easy walk to local beaches. I did not get an ocean view and my room was comfortable, but very basic. I got a peek into one of the ocean view rooms and it looked bigger, plus it even had a kitchenette. My trip to the airport was easy and quick. I would definitely return to Winthrop Arms when visiting the Boston area.

Room Tip: Pick an ocean view room if possible.

Small hotel, great service with great rates close to Boston. Only 10 minutes from Login Int.
We only spend one night because they were booked. We did eat at the restaurant which was great. If you want to go to Boston they have a ferry with a parking lot.

Room Tip: Try and book early.

Enjoyed the "down home" atmosphere and assistance from proprietor David Goll and his wonderful staff. Help with baggage and information about Winthrop were greatly appreciated. Kind, dedicated people at the Arms made our visit very enjoyable.

Room Tip: Some rooms have additional living room space with foldout couch and extra TV. This was a good feature.

My wife and I stayed here for our anniversary based on reviews given on trip advisor.. and we were happy we did! This hotel is quaint and charming. We liked that it was nestled in a neighborhood but still had a good view of the Boston Harbor. We were less than 10 minutes away from the transit system as well as Logan airport. We ate dinner in the restaurant one evening and it was so delicious! We both ordered the seafood platter and could tell that the fish was fresh. As pleasant as our stay was there were a couple of negatives. The parking is limited which was a problem since the restaurant was a popular place. We had to have the valet move cars around so we had a parking spot and that was a little inconvenient. Also, since this is a family run business there was no one at the front desk 24/7. Luckily we did not run into any issues where we needed assistance but wondered what we would have done if we did. We also had an issue with the room cleaning. We received fresh towels daily and the bed was made..that was pretty much it. The coffee pot was not emptied nor were the glasses cleaned or replaced. We were also surprised that no one asked us how our stay was going. We stayed there a full week and only talked to someone at the front desk when we checked in and caught the owner Dave as we were leaving.

Room Tip: Room 214 overlooks Boston Bay.

The Winthrop Inn was built in 1916. It has the old world charm. It is a beautifully well maintained hotel. The lobby is very nice with a sitting area and restaurant/tavern inside. The rooms are all upstairs. We stayed in Room 208 which was recommended on Travel Advisor. The view of the ocean from this room is beautiful. The ocean is actually behind one row of houses, but you can see it. We went outside to watch the beautiful sunrise over the ocean. The room itself, is actually three rooms. A dining area with stove, mini fridge, sink, coffee maker, dishes and flatwear were also provided. The sitting area with love seat, chair and flat screen TV, tables and lamps were very comfortable . The bedroom had two Queen size very COMFORTABLE beds with lots of pillows. There is a huge dresser with a night stand between the beds and a Flat Screen TV. The bathroom was roomy with a tub/shower. The room was very clean. The people are very friendly and accomodating. This was one of our favorite places to stay while on our New England vacation!

Room Tip: Choose Room #208, great view and comfy beds!
