We had planned a long summer vacation in the US and Boston was our first stop. Based on several reviews and the price, we booked two night at Harrington House and arrived there, tired from our flights to be warmly welcomed by Joey. He showed us around and explained everything. We instantly felt very comfortable.

Harrington House is conveniently located next to a bus stop, from where you can go to the next metro station and right across from the ferry that will take you across Boston harbour right to the city centre. (Take the ferry once at least, it was really a splendid start into our day).
The breakfast was outstandingly delicious and healthy with fresh fruit and still warm muffins.
Sharing the bathroom was no problem at all, everything was clean and all necessities were provided for.

The only negative experience for us were the incoming airplanes (Winthrop lies directly in the entry path for Boston Logan Airport) which made it difficult to fall asleep. But I guess, you get used to them.

Overall, we would definitely come back should we ever visit Boston again.

It has been 1 year since I stayed at the Harrington house. My mom and I still talk about the amazing experience we had. We spent about two weeks traveling the east cost and this was our favorite experience. The view was incredible, Maggie was so welcoming, I was able to go for a beautiful morning jog, Boston was easy to get to, breakfast was delicious (i still think about the granola). I can't really think of one negative to our stay, other than only 1 bathroom to the house but even that wasn't really an issue. Would 100% recommend it.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Boston Harbor room #1. Definitely the best room even with the extra cost. Such an a...

Stayed here for one night in June and returned a few weeks later in late July for a 2 night stay (that should speak for itself).

Winthrop is very cost effective to downtown Boston and has both ample on site parking and good access to public transport (bus to subway network is right near front door).

Alternatively there is a ferry option to Boston though this was not operating during our stay . This no problem given the bus/train network alternative.

Great views across Bay to city by day and night and some nice local restaurants.

Joey and Maggie are great hosts and Maggie bakes home made muffins and cookies for the guests and provides very nice breakfast. Very good facilities and Internet as well and lovely reading area downstairs.

When we returned after a few weeks we were welcomed back like family.

They are also handy to the airport which is also accessible by public transport as a cheap alternative to a taxi.

Definitely give this B&B a go if you are traveling to Boston.

The reservation for two nights in Harrington House was uncomplicated. Coming from Cape Cod, we "enjoyed" seeing the highway around Boston from very close, and that very long :-)
But as soon as we arrived, we forgot all about that, as Joey and Maggie made us feel directly at home. We enjoyed directly one of Maggies delicious cookies.
The room was spacious and good. We shared the bathroom, with the other two rooms, but as Maggie and Joey "gave up" their bathroom, there were no problems....

We had a great two nights there, slept well, and enjoyed the great views from Winthrop on Boston! You can hear the planes, but as they are already quiet high, when they fligh over Winthrop, you hardly notice them anymore after a few minutes!!

The only thing where we were a bit disappointed was the breakfast. As Europeans, we are more accustomed to toast with marmelade, or even cheese and ham, but instead we had some (great homemade) granola, with (also great and homemade) muffins.

Excellent service, excellent location. I loved the easy access to transportation. The view of the bay was amazing. Winthrop is a quaint and gorgeous little place to stay. Harrington House was beautiful and quiet, and the owners are incredible. Clean, the breakfast...delicious! The price was def nice, and very much a value.

Room Tip: They are all beautiful.

We arrived at the quaint Harrington House B & B, somewhat fraught after a long flight from the UK and a challenging drive ( on the "wrong" side of the road) from nearby Logan airport. Maggie immediately made us feel at home and allowed me to make a free interstate phone call. She recommended a great Italian restaurant for dinner. Our beautiful room had a sensational view across the harbour. We felt very welcomed and cared for. The breakfast was to die for! We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful place.

This year, we decided to make our "big" vacation a trip to Boston. Naturally, when the events of 4/15 occurred, we waited with baited breath to see the outcome. Let's hear it for New England tenacity!

After what I think was the quickest cab ride I've ever been on, we pulled up to the quaint two-storey home that would be our home-away-from-home for the next 5 days. Our hostess, Maggie, met us at the door and, after taking care of the business portion of our visit, gave us a tour of the house. We had booked the Crystal Cove room, which was nicely appointed with a good-sized dresser and small seating area near a window facing out into the harbor.

After getting settled, we followed Maggie's suggestion for the only open restaurant within walking distance and had a nice Italian dinner. Okay, it was weird purchasing alcohol across the street and carrying it into the restaurant, but what the heck.

During the ensuing days, Maggie made several suggestions including transportation options, sites to see, and places to eat, all of which turned out to be spot on. Breakfasts were simple, but filling, consisting of cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, coffee, and (most importantly) freshly baked muffins, biscuits, scones, or croissants. We left the house every morning with a full stomach and good attitude.

The house has a bus stop practically in front where a bus comes by about every 45 minutes. This worked out well as we usually left right about that time, but had we wanted to leave at another time, there was another bus stop about 5 minutes away that was serviced more frequently. A Charliecard allowed us access to both the local bus and MBTA service, including the subway/trains. It literally took us 20 minutes to get downtown once on the bus. You couldn't have asked for a better location.

Yes, the house sits off one of the departure paths for Logan, but it wasn't a busy one so it was a non-issue for us. Given the age of the home, it is still a work in progress, w/Maggie planning on getting the house painted and the front porch updated so that it can be used as an additional retreat on which to relax.

Based on the service and amenities, we highly recommend the Harrington House to any visitor to the Boston area.
