Pera opened a few weeks ago and fills a gap in Williamstown . There are several ethnic restaurants (Thai, Indian, Mexican) and burger joints in the middle of this small college town's main street (Spring Street is quite small for a "main Street") but there has been nowhere nice to get a light healthy meal and a decent glass of wine. Pera fits the bill. They have great appetizers that could be made into a meal easily if you so desired: humus, tabouli, falafel (excellent) and stuffed grape leaves. They can all be put together in a platter to share if you want. They have other great appetizers as well - these that I mentioned are just my favorites. Then you can have choices of salads, they are all fresh and interesting. There are pastas, sandwiches and wraps, and dinners. All the food is fresh light and reasonable. I had the chicken kabobs recently for dinner and they were excellent. They came with a choice of Pera salad (arugula, dry cranberries, crumbled goat cheese, toasted walnuts and a light vinaigrette) or a vegetable or some Bulgar pilaf. The bistro is open from 11:00 til closing (after dinner) daily and you can eat as big or small a meal as you would like. Two of us in a party of four had a salad for dinner, another a dinner entree and another a wrap. They have some draft beers on tap and a small reasonable, selection of wines. We've tried the Chianti at $19.95 a bottle and it was excellent. Last of all Pera has drop dead flourless chocolate cake (light and fudgy) and great baklava for dessert. Cappuccino is available too. The interior is well decorated, casual and has some great pictures from Italy. We live near by so Pera is already a new favorite for us. I think it will prove to be a favorite for locals and tourists alike.
