We dined at the Whately Inn this evening, a Saturday night with a party of 6 to celebrate a birthday. We were seated promptly and served the most delicious rolls and cucumber salad. Our appetizer, the lobster bisque, was flavorful and the service was very good throughout the meal. All of our entrees were very well prepared and flavorful. The baked potatoes left a little to be desired. Desserts were all very mediocre at best. The pecan pie tasted like a frozen Mrs. Smith's and the eclairs covered with whipped cream were definitely the frozen kind you buy forty to a box squirted with cream. No dessert ordered by our group was very appealing.
The major thing that will keep us from returning was the crowded dining room and the noise level. You could not carry on a conversation with the person next to you because it was so noisy. The tables were crammed in just as tightly as they could be. You bumped the person sitting behind you if you tried to move in the least. When my husband used the men's room someone had to move from their seat so people could exit the men's room. . It seemed like they want to make as much money out of their space as they possible can without regard to customer comfort. Definitely did not make for a festive birthday celebration. Not sure if this a typical Saturday night at the Inn, but we will most likely not return.
