“Cap Cod Weekend”
Reviewed November 15, 2013

Stayed at the Tidewater Inn the weekend after Labor Day for the second year in a row. The rooms are older and basic, but have all the ammenities you need (fridge, iron). The grounds are beautiful. Indoor and outdoor pools, beautiful yard area for picnics. Location is great. Close to everything. Beaches, bars, restraunts, shopping all near by. We'll be back next year !!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate your choosing to stay at the Tidewater when you visit the Cape. While our property is a bit older, to are constantly making improvements to the property to improve our guests' experience. Our waterview rooms overlooking Mill Pond and the picnic area are more recently renovated and a very peaceful area to stay with the private balconies or patios. Looking forward to you next visit.

Charles is a great asset. Room very clean. Had 72, a handicapped room. Lots of room. Quiet. Highly recommend. A great value. W have been coming here for several years and never been disappointed. If you have a problem getting internet from the room, you can always use the computer in the lobby which they supply. The mid-cape location is very convenient.

Room Tip: The rear building is best with its accessability to indoor pool and the breakfast room. An indoor co...

Thank you for taking time to write a review. Charles is certainly an asset to the Tidewater and provides superior customer service and a wealth of recommendations to guests. So glad you enjoyed your visit again...we love our regulars. We have strengthened our WIFI so you should have no problem with a signal in the future. Hope to see you again when you visit the Cape.

Upon entering the room, it seemed like most "average" hotel rooms. It was a bottom floor room, small but clean and I have to admit, I was impressed with the size of the bathroom. King size bed was adequate and the tv was tiny but all in all...okay for the money spent. The problems began at 4:00 am when some crazy woman started yelling profanities outside my sliding glass door. She apparently knew the couple "staying" in the room above us and was not happy that one of the people was her husband! She continued screaming and using foul language for quite some time as well as trying to stack chairs outside my door to climb the balcony. At some point, someone let her in the building (I assume, her husband) so the noise just got worse and quite frankly, it was very scary. I did not know if she had a weapon and just wanted her out. I tried to call the front desk several times but the phone just kept beeping...couldn't reach the desk OR get an outside line. Thank God for cell phones! I then reached the police who promptly handled the matter.

I do understand that this incident was not the fault of the hotel however, it wasn't mine either....and I paid to stay there. The phone not working was a bad sign and when I informed the desk clerk about what had happened the next morning, I got nothing more than an apology. Anything would have been nice...a refund, a free future stay, heck even a complimentary breakfast at the hotel's diner...oh wait...THAT wasn't even open...on a Sunday no less. Not a good way to end an anniversary trip (should have stayed where we were, in Provincetown).

I would have given a little higher rating if the phone worked and the staff was accommodating. Honestly, even if they had offered a free night, I'm not sure I would have used it but it would have shown me that the hotel cared enough about their customers to see that they are happy. No problem Tidewater Inn...but we will not be returning.

I truly apologize for your experience. The disturbance did happen, but we didn't find out until the following morning when guests were checking out. We give every guest who checks in a welcome letter with the extension of the overnight staff in case there is a problem after the office closes. Guests do call this number if they need anything after hours, but unfortunately, on this evening nobody called. A guest did call the police and the woman was escorted out of the hotel. This is not something that happens at the hotel, but it appears as if the wife found out her husband was at the hotel with another woman. First thing in the morning, we asked the guest to leave and placed him on our "do not rent" list. We would love to have you give us another try so that you can see that this disturbance was not the norm at our hotel. Feel free to give me a call at 508-775-6322 for a complimentary future stay. In addition, the diner was open the normal weekend hours from 7am to 11am on Sunday.

The Tidewater Inn was a well presented comfy motor inn near the town of Hyannis. Rooms had a fridge, TV, free wifi and the beds were comfy. There was a supermarket 5 min drive away where you could pick up supplies. There was a coffeshop/café across the car park which was open in the morning where you could have a cooked breakfast for a reasonable price. There were a few chain Restaurants near the supermarket along the road, if you didn't want to venture into the towns. Think it was about an hour from Provincetown and 40 minutes from Plymouth. We were there at the beginning of October and a lot of things were shut as it was out of season.

Hope you enjoyed your visit to the Cape and the Tidewater. The season on the Cape ends after Columbus Day weekend which usually falls in mid October. While fall on the Cape is beautiful and very affordable, many of the seasonal activities do close.

Stayed here for 3 nights in October after a mess up with booking in everthing was fine.
we had a King room at the back of the motel over looking the marsh it was lovely and quite.
Rooms were clean as someone else said TV's were a bit antiquated and poor signal but we didn't travel 4 thousand miles to watch TV.
Helen's Dinner is good we had breakfast there every morning but beware the coach loads of pensioners !
Pool Was a little cold for me but the Hot Tub was great nice way to relax after sight

Room Tip: King Rooms in the back block overlooking the Marsh.

Thank you for your review. We do have a lot of bus tours in the fall and they appear to take over the diner, but we reserve several tables for our non tour guests. While the buses get a buffet, our regular guests are able to order and get served quickly despite the large numbers in the diner. As for the TV's we do hope to start replacing these this year. Hope to see you again if you visit the Cape in the future.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days in mid October. We got a room with a private balcony overlooking the marsh. That was very nice. The room was nice, looks recently painted, but needs an upgrade on the TV and mini fridge. Was disappointed that the restaurant was closed during the week as we were looking forward to that. They have a nice indoor pool and hot tub as well. We would come back next year but earlier in the season next time.

I stayed two nights at the Tidewater Inn while bicycling around Cape Cod. It is an unremarkable motel in a great location.

VALUE: I got a great deal through Priceline during the middle of high season. Considering the circumstances, there were no comparable hotels that were as inexpensive.

LOCATION: Undeniablely, the best attribute about the Tidewater Inn is its location along Route 28. It was a great base from which to explore the Cape by bike, and only a short ride from the Hyannis ferry terminal. Plenty of tourist-oriented attractions and restaurants nearby - I would recommend Captain Parker's for their clam chowder.

SLEEP QUALITY: Not the most comfortable beds, but nothing that stopped me from getting a good night's rest. Outside noise was not an issue.

ROOMS: The rooms are "classic" motel style, in that they could benefit from remodeling, but it's clear that that is unlikely to happen anytime soon. In addition, Wi-Fi was hit-and-miss.

CLEANLINESS: The hotel was clean, but not particularly fresh.

SERVICE: Kind of a mixed bag. Staff were friendly, but seemed overwhelmed at times (although this was probably the busiest weekend of the season). Checking in took longer than expected and there were problems with some of the room keys.

If this were a hotel in a major U.S. city, I would advise someone to consider other options. However, Cape Cod is not a major U.S. city, and for the combination of price and location, I would recommend the Tidewater Inn to a budget-minded traveller. Just remind yourself that you're there to see the Cape, not the motel.

Thank you for your detailed review of the Tidewater. I am glad the location served you well and I only wish you had been happier with the accommodations. When you booked the special rate with priceline it was for the economy motel style rooms. We also have more updated rooms with interior corridors some of which have beautiful views. These rooms cost a bit more and are a favorite with most of our regulars. Hope you can give us another chance if you're on the Cape again.
