Description: The roots to this Cape Cod landmark trace their origins back to the old country and follow a route through Canada before settling in along Route 28. The Yarmouth House Restaurant was founded in 1978 by the Kounadis family patriarch, Gerry Kounadis. Born in Kefalonia, Greece, Gerry immigrated to Canada with his lovely wife, Vasiliki, in 1951. There, he operated a very successful diner in Montreal for over 35 years. His dream was to expand and open another restaurant in the United States. In 1978 he founded The Yarmouth House and he knew he had found a diamond in the rough. He brought with him his three children to help run the restaurant. With hard work and dedication, the restaurant became one of Cape Cod’s favorites, as it remains today. In August 2006, Gerry Kounadis passed away, but his presence is still felt every day in the restaurant. He left behind memories of his great sense of humor, positive attitude, accommodating demeanor and his famous welcoming smile. Today, his son Chris runs the kitchen along with other very talented chefs like Gary Sprague and Amir Ahari. The dining room is run by his son-in-law, Ted Zambelis, and his daughter Angie, who try hard to keep up the family’s goal of remaining a restaurant with the finest food at reasonable prices in an inviting and friendly atmosphere. The family owns and operates DiParma Italian Table on Route 28 in W. Yarmouth as well as our newest location, DiParma Italian Table, Seekonk, MAWe want to take this opportunity to thank all our patrons, especially the many supportive Cape Cod residents who have kept us in business for over 31 years.Thank you and God Bless

“Nice Easter celebration”
Reviewed April 3, 2013

We have a handful of restaurants we trust to always deliver.
Yarmouth House is one of them. We decided to have our Easter dinner
there, making a reservation on the same day was very easy.
Staff were attentive and friendly as usual. We had a table close to
the mill and water fountain. We are so familiar with the place and the menu.
I could see how my two teenagers were totally at ease. They ordered prime rib
and New York sirloin steak. The temperature was perfect and they were prepared
to perfection. My wife and I ordered seafood stuffed lobsters, another signature
dish. They were deliciously prepared. Perfectly paired with Mendoza Malbec. Then we indulged on the banana split and chocolate fondue.
What a nice family celebration. We left with a big smile.

“Great Surprise”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

My wife and I were in Cape Cod to celebrate her special birthday (she is not a minor and more!). We stayed in a timeshare in West Yarmouth. We picked this restaurant because it looked quaint. We loved the place! The food was great, service was attentive, and the ambiance was good. The only negative for me was the water wheel inside the restaurant, which increased the noise level. We are definitely going back during our week here!

“Great food, generous servings”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

On a recent off-season Sunday afternoon, the Yarmouth House was surprisingly busy. They have been open over 30 years, so must be doing something right! The Sunday menu had a combination of small plates (appetizer size) with selections like seafood cakes, calamari, mussels, bruschetta and more.....the dinner selection was a nice mix of chicken, pork and seafood (including traditionals like "fried" and "baked"). There were also a few special dinners that included coffee and dessert. The service was very good and the decor ranges from casual in the bar area and near the water wheel (indoors and very "cool"!) to an upscale-feel dining area.
Judging by the size of the parking lot and by the number of tables, they are very busy in the summer!!

“Nice suprise”
Reviewed March 19, 2013

Have not been to the Yarmouth House for a few years, last time not that great but have things turned around. Bill(I believe) our waiter, was excellent and the food was delicious. Brie in pastry and the scallops with pancetta appetizers were great. I had the paella and it was fantastic loaded with shrimp and mussels and chicken and sausage. Good sized portions and the desserts were excellent and huge. Menu definitely has changed from the last time we were here and I think for the better.
