My first visit to Rouge in West Stockbridge was a winner. The building and decor are charming. The menu ( we sat in the back) was creative and offered a variety pleasing to many of varied preferences. I had a halibut special. Tasted like the fish came from the water within minutes, very fresh. Presentation, a big slab of white fish over white rice, was unappealing but the flavor couldn't be beat. The jasmine rice and the sautéed summer vegetables were tasty. Dessert, a frozen espresso cake was nothing special, but the accompanying scoop of chocolate gelato was yummy. Service was friendly, at times slightly intrusive.
