Last year was my first time going to the Big E. It is perfect for all ages. The variety of food is insane! We must have tried at least a few dozen different foods and drinks at the fair, not to mention all the stuff we took home with us. The cream puffs are famous for a reason. Make sure you check out all the state houses. There are lots of food stalls and vendors in the 5 houses. They have great exhibitions and markets throughout the fairgrounds. The circus is absolutely amazing. There are plenty of bathroom facilities everywhere, and they are clean. We didn't try the rides, but since I plan on going back every year from now on, I'll give the rides a try next time. The entry fee is pretty reasonable for the amount of activities and shows during the fair. Can't wait until the fall to go back this year.

Good ol' fashioned fair. Lots to do. Lots of fried things to eat. You couldn't possibly do everything there in one trip I think thats part of what is cool about it. The only negative were the sad bears in the truck... Bears should never be in a truck...

I wouldn't make it an annual event - just so so. Very crowded, parking is a major issue. Visitors seemed to be at their witts end, too - making for a very rude experience. It is what it is - a freakin' county fair. Do go expecting a lot- you won't get it. Then you won't be dissapointed.

A favorite for all the animal events - we love the horse pulling contests. Great for people watching, and overall just fun to walk around.

This is the Eastern States Exposition - the Big E to locals and returning visitors. There is a state building for each of the six New England States where you can get a food item that that state is known for (i.e. Maine potato or Vermont maple sugar candy). Lots to see in these buildings and lots of pamphlets to pick up to plan next year's vacation! There is also the Better Living Center where LOTS of local businesses have booths to give you information about siding your home or buying a piano or a hot tub. There are literally hundreds of food vendors where you can get chili dogs or corn dogs, cotton candy or candied apples, sausage or meatball grinders, mini sugared donuts or fried dough. Bring your appetite! There is also a building that hosts 4H so you can see all kinds of full grown and baby farm animals. And there are lots and lots of rides to go on for everyone from the faint at heart to the adrenalin junkie. And, last but not least - there are some free concerts and usually one or two big draw names. Last year, we saw Blake Shelton. He put on an excellent show! If you go, wear comfortable walking shoes and bring a sweater. Even if it's sunny and 70 during the day, after the sun goes down, the New England nights can get chilly! Enjoy!
