“Easy nice way to see the area by water.”

Starfish Bass River Cruises
Reviewed September 26, 2017

The afternoon was wonderful, a beautiful late Summer day or early Autumn, in fact it was September 26, the light was perfect to enjoy a boat ride. It is a nice way to see the area by water. Information provided is interesting, to my liking too much, it would be better if the captain/tour director did not talk all the time. However, I would recommend this activity, easy way to know more about the area, comfortable seats on board and beautiful sites all around.

The boat is old, the tour is an endless constant (constant) -drone- of gossip about the people who live along the river, how much money they have, how much money each house is worth, and the number of bathrooms in the homes.

Occasionally it is interesting or funny.

The tour skips the beautiful upper river.

If that sounds good to you, then go for it. I was embarrassed to have selected it for my friends.

An easy way to improve this tour would be to have about 1/3 the narrative.

It was not relaxing.

The trip was cancelled last year (weather? not enough attendees?), so I was excited to board this August. I thought it was one of the best activities on Cape Cod and for a reasonable price (with $1.00 discount from CC Guidebook) of $22. The 90 minute cruise is packed with information and humor. Not only will you get the history of the area but also anecdotes about the owners of many of the homes you view. The Captain and First Mate take turns at narrating and the Captain was at times a bit hard to understand as he lacked intonation. Both are quite funny and entertaining. The ride is a smooth one until the craft rocks a bit as it nears open ocean, but it is is not fear inducing. Snacks are available for purchase and there is a restroom. It is a small boat with a half-awning so bring sunglasses and a hat. I reserved a space with no-obligation in advance with a name and phone number but the ride was not sold out in the 2nd to last week of the summer.

Delighted to take our 2 youngest grandchildren on this Bass River cruise. Have taken the older grandchildren years ago and have pictures of them steering the ship with the Captain. Now I went to have the two youngest grandchildren have their picture with the captain. Nice relaxing cruise up the river with the captain narrating the trip and points of interest.

Just a wonderful day with snacks, bathroom and ware and soda.

Highly recommend for young or old. Truly interesting.

We had three generations take this cruise and we all really enjoyed it! The Captain and First Mate shared a wealth of information about the area through the entire 90 minute tour. We learned a lot and enjoyed seeing the beach from the water. They suggest that you arrive 20 to 30 minutes before departure. About 2/3 of the boat is covered with an awning so if you don't want to be in the sun, you should get there early to get your seat. There isn't room for strollers on board so bring a baby carrier if you have a little one. Also, we probably could have used a light sweatshirt for part of the tour because it was a little windy/chilly but we were fine. This is a great cruise for all ages. We brought some snacks for the kids and it was a success!
