“Unique Dining Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 12, 2012

Our senior trip of the month included a tour of the Quabbin Park followed by lunch at the Salem Cross Inn restaurant. I didn't realize that the restaurant is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The tour guide who works at the Salem Cross Inn met us and gave a wonderful, informative narrative of the surrounding towns and Quabbin Reservoir. Once we got back to the restaurant, my choice was the pot roast. I can't remember getting such a generous portion of meat smothered in gravy, whipped potatoes and squash in any other restaurant. Even if you were full, you had to make room for the scrumptious dessert. The wait service was incredible - there was no waiting for anything. Before you could even think of something else you might need, someone was at your table. I'm sure they were so confident that we were all pleasantly surprised with the service and meal that they kept coming over to the table. How could anyone complain? It was a warm, sunny day but I can only envision how beautiful this setting will be in a couple of weeks when the leaves begin to change colors. Be sure to walk outside to see the beautiful vegetable, flower and herb gardens before you drive away.

“Lovely Setting and Great People”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

I attended a wedding here last weekend, and it was wonderful. Well perhaps my one complaint was the heat, but I guess they couldn't do much about that :-]

The setting was grand, and while the Bride and Groom had photos done we watched while enjoying wonderful finger food at an outside bar on the back lawn. The party was held in the barn, set up family style. The ladies serving the food did a grand job getting food out everyone at the same time, and then cleaning up quickly between courses but in a way you hardly noticed. And the food was very good, except perhaps the little apple pies we had for desert which were under cooked, but the scoop of ice cream more then made up for that.

They were very relaxed. We were a rowdy bunch and more one then one glass got broken while the night went on. Not a word was said, things were just cleaned up and the party went on. Even as the night wore on you never had the feeling they were trying to push us out the door. It was a perfect place for a wedding.

The top thing for me was watching the waitresses. I saw two of them cleaning off the tables, stop what they were doing to watch the groom dance with his Mom. They looked at them like they knew the family and hadn't seen it a hundred times.

“Another Excellent Experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 31, 2012

Took our son from out of town for an early dinner(his 1st visit). Menu has been redone since last visit. Much less of a selection but our 3 entrees were great. Son had a roasted chicken with maple syrup among other things, wife had sliced duck breast, and I had stripper. Staff was very attentive. Will return again!
