“We needed this”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

The Local is a restaurant that we really needed in Wellesley. It is casual but the vibe is cool. Food is very similar if not exactly like the restaurant in Newton.

Like I said, it is a very solid choice for beers and burgers or slightly more upscale fare.

“Great Restaurant”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

Great food, fun atmosphere, family friendly... It is very busy on weekend nights, so plan ahead if you have small children. Great addition to Wellesley!

“Gosh, we had a great time!”
Reviewed February 22, 2014 via mobile

We did some research before driving from Southborough to Wellesley on a Friday night. Near our family in Dover, gluten free menu, pretty good reviews. They don't take reservations, and large snow banks made parking a bit tricky....but we were in the place by 5:35pm; a group of 8 adults and three children. They very nicely set up a large table for us at the back of the house. It worked perfectly.
The menu was creative, and everyone enjoyed their dishes. The gluten free stuff was excellent. Fries and fried pickles on the table to hold us over till our orders were up....wonderfully unique and tasty. There was a good beer selection. Enough ambient noise so that our children's voices and cries weren't really an issue. Good wait staff. Things moved along at a reasonable pace. We weren't rushed, but were served in a timely fashion. The atmosphere is nice...clean, lots of dark wood, families and non-families. I'd most certainly go back.
BTW, I had the burger...a good judge of the quality of food others would be having. It was excellent....no frozen angus...real good, well cooked and juicy. Someone who had the lobster roll raved about it. Enough said.

“First time here (and maybe the last)”
Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

First time at the Local in Wellesley. It doesn't hold a candle to the West Newton. The menu needs more of the standard fare. I had the flatbread with apples, bacon and cartelized onion which was delicious. We ordered the salmon cake appetizer that wasn't served until after our main courses. It tasted like it had been sitting in oil under a heat lamp. The beer menu has a lot of variety but better descriptions of some of the lesser known brews would be helpful and welcomed. It's nice to have more restaurants in Wellesley but the service was awful. The server behaved like she really didn't want to be there. When we asked where the appetizer was, she took no responsibility for its delay but did bring it right over. Other requests were never fulfilled. When she brought the check (and looking for a good tip) she realized she hadn't delivered but instead of an apology she suggested that the salad was probably fine without tomatoes. It will be a long time before we go back to this restaurant.

“Dinner”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

We had dinner here while visiting our son at Babson. I'd say food was above average compared to neighboring chain. We were at restaurant by 5:45 and quickly seated, ordered dinner and were quickly served. Staff was friendly and food was good. We will definitely eat here again when visiting our son.
