If you want good Italian food, in a nice atmosphere, at a reasonable price, Papa Razzi is a good choice. We go there often and never get tired of the warm welcome and chicken parmesan. The thin little bread sticks that are immediately brought to your table are addictive - bet you can't eat one. It's so nice to find a local place with atmosphere, (table cloths & not too noisy) where you can relax over a glass of wine in a place where you are not rushed. We've gotten in the habit of making a reservation and there is always a nice table waiting.

There's nothing terribly wrong with Papa Razzi but nothing superbly right either. It's a chain restaurant with predictable selections at mid-range prices. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. I went there as part of a school reunion dinner but wouldn't choose to go again. I'd rather save my pennies and have a great meal out, if less often.

A quickie review - We brought an out of town guest here on a Saturday night. The atmosphere is nice, the service fine and the food the best Italian in Wellesley. Simple enough, come for a good time, good food and drinks. Overall a very nice experience, as usual. The only downside is they did not have the gas fireplace running, it's getting cool out there.

My husband and I often decide at the last minute to go out to dinner, and Pappa Razzi takes reservations. The food is consistent and very good ~ great pizza, pasta dishes, and amazing veal chop! Nice place to meet a friend as well.

We stopped at Pappa Razzi last week for a late lunch on Friday. We were "greeted" by a very unfriendly hostess (we interrupted her lunch) who showed us to a mid-traffic table in an almost empty restaurant. This was followed by a painful 5 minute wait for anyone to respond to our arrival.
Fortunately, we had a great waiter who finally arrived with apologies. There were waiters all over the restaurant, milling around - but no one was working (must have been a shift change).
We ignored the behavior of the nasty hostess and commenced with appetizers, a variety of meal selections and desserts with coffee. Our bill was well over $250 for the 4 of us. The food was good - but not outstanding. My pasta dish of chicken, asparagus and angel hair had almost no sauce on it and only 3 small pieces of asparagus discovered at the bottom of the bowl. Appetizers of calamari (delicious - love those cherry peppers) and bruschetta (strange presentation)... Desserts were outstanding - the best part of the meal.
Our waiter saved an otherwise less than average meal. Cannot ignore the nasty hostess who seemed to mill around (after she had finished her lunch) with a sour puss.. Interestingly, she perked up later when a couple of regular diners arrived. I guess saves her smiles and greeting only for those she knows personally. She needs an attitude adjustment or a new job somewhere other than in the front.

Thankfully, we don't live in Massachusetts, so a return visit won't happen any time soon. There are great places to dine where you are greeted with a smile in New Hampshire.
