Went to this place with a group of 7 to dine. We just landed in Boston so were all jet lagged and wanted to eat fast and get back to the hotel.
The location is at a big parking lot to other stores, so definetely not nice, but the interior was nice and the menu had lots of stuff that sounded great.
When we ordered drinks a guy from group was ID'ed - he just turned 30 and might look young, but not 21, but obviously he had a picture id. But as it was a international drivers license that the stuff did not reconized he could not order a beer. We asked for the manager but he came back with same result. They wanted a passport - (the drivers license has a picture and a birthdate - but it is European so the date is the other way around). I travel to US quite a lot, but had never experienced such bad service. But we were starving so we did not want to find another place and ordered.
The starters were huge and definetely for sharing and mine was very good and looked pretty. My main course did not looked that nice when it came but it tasted very good. Looking at the other plate it was kind of the same. The plating was not top knotch - but everybody seemed happy with what they got.
Overall this is a place that serves decent food with good ingredients - but it will not knock your feets away.

I've been to the Cottage with my husband for dinner a number of times, and it's a bit of a stuffy local atmosphere, and overpriced for what you get. We recently took a visiting friend to Sunday AM brunch, however, and the menu was awesome. Super fresh and vale priced this is definitely the time to hit up the cottage.

We eat here when visiting family in Wellesley. We love the upscale atmoshere. The food is well prepared and the waitstaff is excellent. You are greeted warmly when you arrive and seated promptly if you have reservations. The menu is good, but I would like to see more daily specials.
This restaurant has a lovely sophistication about it, but families are always welcomed.....

We have been to The Cottage a few times over the last three years. It is a comfortable, busy restaurant. However, the food preparation is almost always lacking somehow. Too much lemon, not enough of this or that and sometimes, the dish that we really liked doesn't resemble what we were served and is a disappointment.
Perhaps it is indicative of a chain restaurant but it wouldn't take much to make it a lot better.

Could use improvement in all areas. Not terrible...not outstanding. Just so so. Nice interior. Pasta special was drowning in oil. Decent spot for a drink with friends. Always busy but no competition in the area.
