Extended Stay America - Boston - Waltham - 32 4th Ave.
Ranked #11 of 11 Hotels in Waltham
Reviewed September 23, 2013

We were in Boston for a short vacation and quickly found out that you cannot expect to get a room in the month of September without making a reservation in advance. We stumbled upon the Extended Stay in Waltham, Mass by accident while frantically trying to find a room and I'm glad we did. The staff was very helpful and pleasant and the room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Since Waltham is a suburb of Boston, we could be downtown in a matter of 20 minutes. It was an excellent place to stay and the area around the hotel is quiet and clean and there are plenty of shops and gas stations around it. I would highly recommend this hotel when you are visiting the Boston area.

Tim - Thank you so much for your kind words about the hotel and staff. We are all very glad that you enjoyed your stay and visit to Boston. You are correct about how difficult it can be to find rooms in the city this time of year. I am glad we were able to accommodate you and leave a positive, lasting impression about our company with you.

We hope that we can be of service to you and your family again. Thank you for your review once more.

In short, excellent. Stayed late August for one night when returning a son to BU. Spotless, spacious, comfortable, well-equipped, extremely reasonably priced. Front desk staff was polite and accommodating. Compared to previous experiences at hotels in Boston area priced much higher than Extended Stay, this was a delight. Would recommend it without hesitation and will avail ourselves of this hotel again definitely.
Location and amenities nearby were a non-issue, as we were staying here the night before moving a son into a new apt.

Arlene - Thank you for reviewing your stay with us. I am so happy to hear that we were able to provide you both the experience and price you were looking for. There are few reasons to travel more important than bringing your child to college and we are proud to have been able to contribute in one small way to that experience for you.

We look forward to seeing you and your family again in the future.

We chose Extended Stay America for an overnight stay when we took our daughter back to college in Cambridge because it was the closest place that offered a reasonable rate on a heavily booked weekend. We were very pleasantly surprised at the spacious, immaculate room (kitchenette included!) and were also impressed with the delightful outdoor pergola area. There were a couple of small glitches with our check-in, but Rose, the young woman at the registration desk, was particularly gracious and helpful in resolving those. We could not have had a better experience, and would recommend this hotel heartily to anyone.

Spent one night. Overall was good, price was decent. Not much in area but we expected that. Room was OK. Bed not super comfortable. 4 of us in room so kids used pull out couch. If price is right its a decent place to stay.

Thank you for staying with us and for taking the time to share your comments. The hotel did recently upgrade all the mattresses to brand new Serta pillow tops at this location only 6 months ago. While I am sorry that you didn't find your bed super comfortable, I am happy that your family was able to take advantage of the new sleeper sofas. Your feedback is very important to us , so thank you for sharing. I hope your next stay will be even better.

The room was clean and sufficient. The fitness room was ok. We didn't do breakfasts as we cook our own meals which is why we choose a hotel with a kitchen. The refrigerator was a good sized.

My only real complaint was, the front desk was left unattended many times for long extended periods. I'll try to attach the photo of the sign posted at the front desk.

The reception area was quite dirty. Not a good first impression. Luggage carts broken.

Thank you for taking the time to provide feedback about your stay. It is very important to us. I am glad to hear that your room was clean and sufficient for your needs. I'm happy that you appreciated the kitchen and the full-sized refrigerator. It does come in pretty handy. Still, I am sorry that our front desk staff were not around when you needed assistance. We often need to step away from the desk briefly to assist other guests, and so we do use a sign as you suggested. We also try to schedule additional staffing during peak seasonal times, and will work to make sure we have more staff on the clock moving forward so these types of situations are not repeated.

Thanks again for your feedback, and we do hope to serve you again soon.

I stayed here for 1 night on a Saturday during a short two day weekend trip to Boston. After looking at numerous hotels in and around Boston i decided on this place for the price, ($119), its immediate location off of I-95, and because it was close to a T subway station.

First, the room was very well put together. Everything looked very new and modern. There was a nice big bathroom vanity and mirror. An iron and ironing board, nice couch, very nice big desk and comfy chair. Full kitchen with a full size fridge and freezer. The place truly is designed for people who need to stay for a longer time, as they really try to make you feel at home with different conveniences; hence their name.

Second, If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay within striking distance of Boston you wont find much better than this. The Riverside T station is a 8 minute drive down I-95 South. You park your car in their very big lot, ($6), and then you are only a 25 minute subway ride from being in the heart of downtown Boston. All you need is $2.50 to get on the subway to go anywhere.

Really had no issues with this place. The room was very nice, clean, comfortable, and quiet. So what if the breakfast didnt have many choices, (coffee, granola bars, and small muffins.) Its free and if you can get a free coffee on your way out anywhere thats fine by me. If you want more, go to a restaurant and buy it yourself.

Room Tip: Stay on the 2nd floor or higher

Good rate on a discount site made it worthwhile. Otherwise, the room / floor smelled a little like chemicals, but it was the right price and the right level for a 2-star place. The layout is pretty typical of a place like this, and be aware that the snack machines are downstairs should you want to grab something, but this was exactly what I needed at the cost.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay. I am glad to read that you were pleased with our hotel overall. I apologize that you found that the hallway and your room had a slight odor. In response to this feedback, I will be reviewing with our staff how to properly use our air freshener moving forward.

The staff and I would like to thank you again for posting your review. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
