While visiting my daughter, we stopped in for a quick bite.

The bagel sandwiches were very good, toasted and fresh.

Thank George S

We were in the area visiting colleges in Boston and stumbled across this place for lunch. Service was quick, food made to order, good quality ingredients. Menu had a large selection of traditional sandwiches and wraps as well as some unique creations. There were also burger options, salads, pizza and calzones. Something for everyone (meat, vegetarian, etc.) There were probably about a dozen tables/booths for seating. We ate in but most grabbed their order to go. Fries were good, traditional crinkle cut but not greasy at all. We had the chicken caesar wrap, the Tom Brady which was a wrap that had chicken, ham, bacon, pineapple and cheese (messy to eat by worthy it) and Johnny's special. If we were back in the area, we wouldn't hesitate to eat here again.

This deli was a favorite for lunch when I used to work nearby 22-26 years ago.

Recently, I was in the area and decided to stop by for a salad. I noticed the menu options expanded significantly since I was last there. Since so many choices, there is surely something delicious to be found for everyone's taste!

The tuna salad salad was huge and it was FRESH! The pita bread was fresh also. The dressing was a tasty house one. The dressing wasn't the same mixture as it was so many years ago but this is understandable based on another review that mentioned it changed hands several times over the years.

The prices are reasonable.

The service was very friendly and efficient.

I will go back when in the area again!

We received a brochure in the mail from Prime Deli on South Street stating that it has the Best Pizza according to Brandeis. It is located in a strip mall and does not look like a deli from the outside. We arrived about 8:45 pm on a weekday night (they close at 9:30 pm). They have about 8 booths and numerous tables, as well as a few televisions. When we arrived, nearly all of the tables had the chairs sitting on top of them, making it appear that they were about to close. The menu is extensive and takes about 5 minutes to read. The pizza is not thin crust, so we ordered a salad with chicken and quesadillas. The food was very good, and although it looked like they were about to close, we did not feel rushed. However, no one else dined there while we were eating, and only 1 person had a food pick-up. Prices are reasonable.

We're glad you stopped in to give us a try after reading about us. Our goal is always to serve up fresh, quality food, and we're glad that the salad and quesadillas hit the spot. We believe that meals are to be enjoyed, so it's good to hear that you didn't feel rushed at any point during your meal. Hopefully next time you're in, we can recommend a pizza option you may like!

Until next time,

During the 22 years I taught at Brandeis University, just a short walk up South Street from the Prime Deli, the deli (though it had different names through the years) was a favorite lunch spot of mine. It still is, in those rare times when I'm back up at my old stomping grounds. The Prime Deli was and still is primarily a Jewish deli, originally under Jewish ownership and management, though the management has changed hands several times; judging from such current offerings as tzazki and felafel, not to mention the accents of the cooks and counter-persons (male and female), I'd guess the current ownership of the Deli is either Greek or Lebanese. At any rate, the old deli standby sandwiches of corned beef and pastrami used to be amazingly good; now they're only good; but the burgers remain as fine as ever. The Deli has broadened its offerings over the years to include "boutique sandwiches" with cute names and wacky combinations of ingredients, and a few years ago the new owners added pizza into the mix. I've never tried it, but judging from the people I've watched getting a pizza to go, I assume it must be pretty good. The Deli serves breakfast all day, and one of my favorites, which I still have for lunch, is the scrambled eggs with lox (smoked salmon) and onions, served with home fries and a bread or bagel of your choice. It may be a small thing, but the Deli still makes a killer egg salad sandwich, which I always order on pumpernickel with a slice of raw onion and Russian (thousand Island) dressing. Yum!

It's been a while, John, but we wanted to thank you for your review. While we did switch ownership, we're glad that our new menu additions sound as appealing as the old ones. We hope to see you in soon!

Warm regards,
