Description: Il Capriccio serves a constantly changing Northern Italian menu featuring local products with an award winning Italian wine and Grappa list. Though long considered a local secret, Il Capriccio has been the number one Northern Italian restaurant in Zagat's for the past seven years. The wine list has been featured in Decanter, Sante, Wine & Spirits and Stuff. The same menu is served in the Bar. We like to serve great food and great wine in a comfortable setting.

Went to their 'Local Harvest Dinner' - excellent menu featuring local suppliers. Delicious, great service. Was very crowded, so a bit noisy and bustling.
Perhaps best to go on a regular night for a more relaxed atmosphere.

“Gem of an Italian Restaurant”
Reviewed September 22, 2012

Great food, fantastic service, wonderful ambience. Hidden (yes I do mean hidden) away on the main street of Waltham. I bet they don't get much passing trade! The food attracts the locals though as the restaurant is busy and buzzing.

“Very good Italian”

Recently had a work related dinner at this restaurant and I recommend it. Staff is excellent and the service is first rate as well. Parking next door is convenient.

“Great wine list to accompany solid Italian cuisine”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

Il Capriccio was a pleasant surprise for my fiance and I. We walked by it the other night while on a pub crawl, and at the same time said we should try that place. Fast forward 4 nights and we arrive for our 8:30 reservation half an hour early. The hostess (very pleasant) seats us in the corner at a double, and we are surrounded by loud groups of 4-6 people. We decide to grab the menu's and make the trek to the bar. It was a lot more quiet, more spacious, and we had the opportunity to discuss the wine list with Jason, the in house wine guru. We ordered the 09 Gaja Promis ($85), which is a steal compared to Grill 23 ($120) and The Capital Grille ($115). After the wine was opened and we let it breath, Jason reccomended the zuchinni (spelling?) stuffed flowers, and the wild boar sausage. The sausage was amazing, and is made in house! After our appetizers we ordered the Vermont wild rabbit ravioli in a porcini sauce. Some of the best tasting raviolis I have had on this side of the Atlantic. We were going to order dinner, but were both full from the great food and even better wine. If you are in Waltham, or do not want to make the trip and pay for parking in the North End, Il Capriccio is definitely worth trying!
