“Losing it's touch”
Reviewed August 14, 2006

As my husband works in MA and we live in Canada, we go to see him every 6 weeks. We chose Summerfield Suites by Wyndham to stay when we go there after our first vist them made us feel right at home. It was amazing. For the past 4 years every six weeks we've booked and stayed there. On our last trip we were advised they Hyatt bought the Summerfield Suites and the little perks we were used to would change or no longer available as we had (Wyndham by Request), such as a basket with nuts and drinks (coke) and other goodies. We thought, that the Hyatt would offer more for valued clients...... NOPE, we get nothing now. Oh well,

The staff, well... we had such a misunderstanding this trip and I don't think we'll go back there again. We had booked a suite with two bedrroms and we were quoted a price. We got there paid the room cash (not to used a Canadian credit card not knowing what the exchange rate is) and went to our room. They made a mistake and gave us a one bedroom suite. I assumed that the rate we paid was for a 2 bedroom suite that they had just made a mistake and gave us the wrong room. I called and asked them to change the room and as we had a lot of luggage if they could send someone round with the new key card. They told me no and that we needed to go back to the reception (lugagge and all) to pay for the difference and then and only then would we receive the new key. I was appauled. They could have said something like "we'll send you a key and when you pass by the reception come and see us about the misunderstanding" . It's not like they don't have a credit card number on file as we need it to reserve, or not like we didn't give them a security deposit that surpassed the amount of the new room. They were VERY rude to us and when my daughter spoke one of the attendants at the reception told her "listen honey it doesn't work like that" I was very put off by this as this attendant wouldn't let the assistant manager talk and when she did the assistant manager would raise her voice to my husband, my husband lost it at this point. We paid went to our room and have been trying to reach the general manager since we came home to no avail.

They've lost longtime good customers. It's sad that with changes not all of them are in the best interest of the client.

Aside from that, the morning buffet in the dining room was good as usual, but this trip the wall clock didn't work so it was always 5:50 and the remote control in one of the rooms didn't work.

Still it is very clean and the maids were friendly and helpful.

This was hotel number four of five on an 11 day college visit tour. This was by far the nicest hotel we stayed at. We weren't IN Boston, but we were close enough that it was just a short trip to where we were going.

We had two full rooms, the teenage girls had their OWN bathroom (yeah!) and the beds were soft and VERY comfortable.

Quality was evident throughout the hotel.

The only comment I had was the included breakfast. There were MANY more people eating than the room was designed for, and there was nowhere for us to sit either day of our stay. In addition, they ran out of silverware, dishes, and some food items.

  • Liked — The bed and the rooms were wonderful!
  • Disliked — The breakfast service was overwhelmed.
  • Tips/Secrets — I booked through SATO for Military families and got a pretty good deal.

The hotel was very clean. The rooms were functional yet very spacious and well appointed for this class of hotel. I would definitely stay here again while in the area.

My girflriend and I wanted to visit Boston for New Year's, but we weren't sure we'd be able to find an affordable hotel for the four nights we wanted to stay. This place was absolutely perfect for us. Yes, its a good little bit outside of Boston, but just a few minutes on the internet will help you figure out how to drive to the park and ride T stops, which we used every day. We did drive into town one night, and the trip was very easy.

These suites are very spacious, with a nice living area and very generous bedroom and bath. The furniture in the living area is very comfortable, and there was both a desk and a table-height bar area to sit and eat. The bed was wonderful, and the entire room was clean and bright. We never took part in the evening fare, but the breakfasts in the morning were probably the best I've ever had at a hotel.

The drive in might be more of a challenge if you have children, but if you're just looking for a low cost, very high quality place to stay that's a little bit out of town, then this is the place for you. We wanted a place to stay for less so that we'd have more money to spend on the trip, and this was exactly what we wanted. We are planning on going back, and we will stay here again. Highly recommended.

My (large) family stayed at this hotel for my sister's wedding in downtown Boston. While it was a 45 minute drive into Boston, the hotel was excellent and the free breakfast buffet in the morning was great. We enjoyed having a full kitchen in our rooms. The rooms were an excellent size compared to some of the other extended stay hotels in the area. We plan on staying there again for the next family gathering.

Our family stayed at this hotel for a quick weekend trip to Boston. The suite we stayed in had two separate bedrooms and a living room area with a pull-out sofa... plus a kitchen (refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher) and a small dining table. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable - at a price less than what we would have paid for two separate rooms elsewhere. We'll definitely stay here again!

Our experience at the Summerfied Suites was very pleasant. The room was spacious and it was great to have the 2 bedrooms separated by the living area/kitchen. Our 2 girls appreciated having their own TV- one in their bedroom and one in the living area. Our younger daughter wakes up early and went right into the living area, thus allowing everyone else time to sleep in. We went apple picking and cooked an apple pie in the oven. The oven was very clean and the kitchen had all the amenities needed. The hotel staff was very accomodating. We liked the special touch of the decorated pumpkins in the lobby. We all voted on which pumpkin we liked best.

The free breakfast was fine. The afternoon snack of meatballs was not very good, breadsticks dry and salad a little on the brown side.

The pool was closed for the season but seemed like a nice size.

There are many fun things to do in Boston. We spent many hours in the science museum. Try out Photo tours- we took the freedom trail walk and learned how to take pictures. Photo tours also has a tour through the gardens. We especially liked the Culinary tour of the North End which we would not recommend for children and those not interested in cooking or eating. The best place for a sub sandwich- Joe's Variety on Orchard St. in Watertown.
