“Nice hotel, what you expect”
Reviewed July 30, 2014 via mobile

Stayed here 2 nights, family with preteen and teens.

PROS:
Spacious, clean room; nice long bathroom counters; 2 rooms in suite, 2 TVs, connecting room with another family, firm sofa bed, nice hot breakfast, loved the made to order breakfast, nightly welcome reception was just okay, free parking

CONS:
Slow elevator, elevator buttons did not work when we were there, can be loud if lots of groups in the hotel as the middle is open area and sound travels; pillows were just okay; weak wifi

OTHER:
About 30 min to get to Boston, but off major highway so easy to get on and off. Most Boston hotels you have to pay $$ for parking.

Will stay here again.

I really love this hotel! It is a bit expensive for me, but the rooms are spacious and clean, customer service is great and the breakfast is awesome! The glass elevators are gorgeous and fun and the pool and hot tub are clean and roomy! My only real complaint is that wifi is not included and is expensive to add. Still....perfect for a family vacation, business trip, or romantic get away! I wish I could afford to come more often!

The Embassy Suites in Waltham is a relatively nice place. It is quiet and peaceful and has been recently remodeled. This is big deal in the Boston area where nice, reasonable, modern hotels are, sadly, a rarity. I really didn't have any significant complaints. The rooms were fine, the AC was nice and cold. The beds were comfortable enough.

My one issue was that the WiFi speed could be a significantly better, especially given that the rooms are suites and the signal gets really weak in the bedrooms. I got 1.5MB down and 0.3MB up which is just sad. If anyone from the Embassy Suites is reading this: guys, WiFi is now like hot water. It is a hygiene factor and there are starting to be websites that classify hotels by WiFi speed. It would behoove you to keep your speeds tip-top, especially given that many folks are traveling on business.

The staff at this hotel seemed polite and helpful. I was surprised to see people gushing over the breakfast. I found the breakfast adequate enough but certainly not worthy of immense praise. It's the usual piles of eggs, bacon, home fries with a nice bonus of cooked to order omelettes. Solid but not amazing.

Overall I actually liked the place: it fulfilled the basics: nice quiet room, remodeled interior that didn't look like the 1980s, AC and hot water that works. WiFi was a serious downer.

This place has potential to be awesome if they fixed WiFi speeds, added some flair to breakfast and perhaps added a little more artwork/decor to the rooms. The beige living room seemed empty and a bit boring to tell you the truth.

This hotel stays on my list for Boston area places. I will not pick it automatically but I will consider staying there again.

Bonus tip: the hotel's location is strange: Google maps will get you really confused directions-wise. Given that the Boston area is composed of ye olde cow paths :-), trust the hotel's website for directions versus Google squawking at you "turn left to turn right and then your destination is on the right"!

We stayed here for two nights while in the Boston area. There is no charge for parking which can be very expensive. It cost us $29 to park when we went for the tour of Harvard. We would drive to the Alewife station and then take the subway downtown. The room was the standard Embassy Suite room. We did get free Wifi as we are at the certain level. Breakfast was the standard breakfast. There was a conference going on during our stay but the staff did a great job in facility the extra people. The hot tub did not have any power jets or that I could find. Did not use the pool. The front desk was very helpful to all our queries. It was a good value for the cost. Of note, for the management reception there is no alcohol beverages with the reception as in the state of Mass this is not permitted. This is certainly different than other Embassy Suite locations.

No free Wi Fi~~$13 a day for Wi Fi in the room. In this day and age of technology, we found this to be inexcusable. And we're Hilton Honors members, but you must be gold or diamond members to get free Wi Fi.
The air conditioner didn't work when we arrived, but it was fixed by the time we got back from dinner. Our room was fine, nice big bathroom, refrigerator and sink. The best part about breakfast was that the room was big and the breakfast was served on plates as opposed to Styrofoam, which seems somewhat typical these days. Unfortunately the made to order omelets had a funky taste...like the oil was stale or pans not cleaned or something. The lobby is attractive. Overall, this hotel was just OK for the price.

Thank you for taking a moment to share your experience. As a HHonors member you are among our most valued guests. We take care to ensure our Wi-Fi pricing is in line with similar properties in this area and all pricing for extra services is available on the website for guests to review prior to staying with us. However, I apologize we failed to meet your expectations in this area.

I was certainly glad to know that you enjoyed other aspects of your recent stay and look forward to having you back at the Embassy Suites soon!

Regards,

We stayed at the Embassy Suites Waltham for an overnight. We got a great deal through United reservations $110/night plus tax for a deluxe double suite: two rooms, two double beds and a pull out sofa, mini kitchen, desk, etc.. Great for my family of five. The kids loved the pool which was a wonderful warm temperature along with a whirlpool that was not unbearably hot. They had a reception from 4-7pm with complimentary snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) as well as a complimentary breakfast with made to order omelets, pancakes, and french toast. An excellent stay. Regular price of this room was $269 which might have been a bit much. The only down side was that wifi was $13.

Green Features: They had a program for second night stay where they would credit you $10 to reuse linens on the second night.

It is crazy that there is a charge for wifi access in a hotel that costs as much as this. Very nice location, clean and well maintained. Easy self-parking in lighted lots. Food and drinks available on site. Just can't get over having to pay for internet access after paying top $ for a hotel suite.
