Rickard's Bakery
Description: Wonderful bakery hidden behind Vineyard Grocer. Incredible bread and french baked goods, top notch latte, no seating but fantastic place to go, especially when the line is out the door at Black Dog.

Rickard's Bakery isn't a very well known place, but definitely should be! The people there are so friendly and helpful, and the owner is absolutely amazing. I've been to both the Vineyard Haven, and the Edgartown store, and both places are great! The pastries are astonishing, and the bread is so fresh and tasty! They even have a gluten-free bread, which is also amazing. Not to mention how clean they are! The store is spotless, and absolutely adorable! The French theme, accompanied by the French music, really puts character to the place. The people there care about their customers well-beings as well; last time I was there a woman in front of me asked for a gluten-free loaf because she had a gluten allergy, and she wanted it sliced, but instead of just thinking about the money and slicing it using there astounding bread slicer, they informed her that they use the same slicer for every bread, and that they wouldn't want to cross-contaminate the bread and cause her to have a reaction! The woman was so pleased, and I was amazed by the generosity and sincerity! I would have to say, Rickard's is the best bakery/coffee shop on Martha's Vineyard, and I would recommend it to anyone!

The Edgartown store has a charming European ambiance. the servers are all knowledgable and the food is fantastic!!!! They have everything from exotic breads and delicious breakfast sandwiches to scrumptious lunch sandwiches and delectable deserts. The Vineyard Haven location has te same appeal and amazing food as well as a fantastic location to the ferry! Perfect for picking up those last minute deserts or special occasion cakes to bring off Island!

I have been to the bakery many many times and not once have I been treated badly or eaten something that I did not like. Their coffee is simply the best coffee I have ever had and their bread is out of this world! My favorite bead there is the ANADAMA. Not to mention how beautiful and tasty their pastries are. The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet, always putting the customers first. I enjoy going in there every time because everything is so clean and the food is delicious and the baristas have the cutest aprons on! I couldn't stress to you how wonderful Rickard's Bakery is.

I recently visited Rickard's Bakery while on vacation on Martha's Vineyard. The sign said 8 am they opened. I stood outside and waited while the bread was delivered and watched them put the trays on the floor as well as a blonde women with a bun not wearing gloves. When they did open she was short fused and made a bitter latte. The croissant was so greasy i took 2 bites and threw it away. The service was so slow and the music blasted so she could not hear my order. Save your money for Expresso Love.
