I used to spend a lot of time at this lighthouse when I lived up there, and it's always a great place to visit. The gift shop has a variety of items fairly priced and the staff is always accommodating to getting what you need. They are very kind to stamp lighthouse passport books and tell you about the history of the lighthouse. The view from the top of the light is wonderful, as you see panoramic views of Provincetown as well as the ocean. A short walk behind the light is an overlook where you can look out at the ocean. Great views and you might see some wildlife. This can be a nice place to watch a sunset, but watch out for mosquitoes in the summer. Also, listen for the bobwhite calling out, and check out the wildflowers growing around. If you're in to letterboxing, there used to be a hidden box on the grounds. Watch out for golfers crossing over the pathway.

As we approached the lighthouse we noticed that there were some people inside so were hopeful that it was open however there were closed signs everywhere. The lighthouse wasn't anything special and in need of maintenance, however the view from the nearby cliff area was amazing and we spotted a number of whales.
It was interesting to note the territory battles between the lighthouse and golf course - there were signs everywhere to ensure that visitors to the two properties did not mix.

Even though we visited off-season, the staff/volunteers were extremely accommodating and helpful. The view from up in the light was gorgeous, and the small shop held many interesting items. The cranberry soap was especially fragrant! Don't forget to pet the adorable canine light keepers. Our tour up into the light was led by Dan, who was very informative, telling many stories of the lighthouse and the Cape. Additionally, the small museum right off the gift shop had old lights and was full of fascinating information. A short film is shown in an adjoining room that tells of the lighthouse's move back from the sea, funded by federal, state, and local agencies alike. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to anyone who is the least bit interested in light houses or history!
