“Keeps on going down”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

This use to be one of the nicest restaurants in the area. If it did not have the view your would be crazy to go there. The bar has better service and reasonable prices. The main dining room is over priced, poor service and 50/50 chance they will ruin something on your order....cold food, etc. The only plus is a fantastic view and not being crowded ..in fact the best thing is they have parking

“Must of been somethin' before electricity!!”
Reviewed April 29, 2014

I live close to this place for almost 30 years but had never been. The family owns (owned) 4 or 5 restaurants in the Boston area. This may be the last in existence. I ask my wife, is it good?, because she has lived in this area her whole life. So someone gives me a gift certificate and I finally go. One of the worst dining experiences ever!! The building is nice and a great location but could use a bit of paint on the outside. You can tell it used to be upscale. Well dressed wait staff and nice dining rooms. A Saturday nite at 7:30 (prime time)--wide open, not even a 1/4 full. I got a lobster bisque, which was good, but tasted exactly like the Capt. Mariners brand I buy condensed. My wife gets the crab cake entrée which was just ok and way overpriced. I got the scallop entrée which had the consistency of dough and was the worst scallops I've ever had! The wine list is for millionaires. ..not even above average diners. There was not a bottle of wine for less than $80. And up to $675. If they would update the place, bring in some new blood in the kitchen, lose the overpriced menu, even just getting entrees into the 20 to $25 range the place could again be fabulous! I will never eat here or recommend this place to anyone. If fact I wouldn't be surprised if they tore it down and put up Million dollar condos! Sad because the menu is full of pics of the original owner and many 1960's and 70's celebrities. Most of the clientele looked to be from this era......if you want to stay alive....step into the new world!

“Great view, average food”

We leave nearby and for a long time it was our restaurant of choice. Exceptional view and ambulant atmosphere. Unfortunately over the years food quality deteriorate and now it serve mediocre overpriced food.

“Hawthorne By the sea”
Reviewed March 4, 2014

It is one of the best restaurants in the area, specially during summer when one can seat outside and enjoy the sea breeze. It is family oriented and the service is great. One of the best appetizer is the oysters Rockefeller, and the bum they bring you recently taken out of the oven is delicious.
