3 of us meet for Birthday Celebrations at The Publick House in Sturbridge, Ma. We start with coffee and tea in the Bakery and pick out a small pastry to go with it. We then go upstairs to the Dinning Room for lunch. This time with all the cold weather we asked for a place near the Fireplace and we really enjoyed being warm while we ate. I had this Pot Roast and my friends had The Chicken Pot Pie. The food is good, we had a very friendly server and she did not hurry us. We had a nice chance to visit. We were too full for dessert but they do have good desserts. After lunch we found a sitting area and visited for another hour. It was a very nice day and all the staff are friendly.

Traveling to Boston we try to time our journey so as to be near Sturbridge for lunch.
The very old and quaint building has two restaurant areas, one the main dining room and the other more of a pub type. We have happily eaten in both.
They serve English staples such as Shepherds Pie as well as regular dishes. My wife loves the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Our biggest complaint is the size of the portions which are way to large for a sensible meal. Even the lunch portions are more than we need.
Service is always good and reasonably quick.
Make sure you stop at the bakery on the way out. The pies and pastries are delicious.

Stopped in without a reservation on the way back from New York. Quick access to a table and wonderful service. Waitresses were prompt, helpful and courteous. Had the baked scrod, clam chowder and a portabello burger with iceberg wedge. Everything was delicious and presented well. Have wanted to stop here for years and never made the time. The onsite bakery had a wonderful assortment available. Apple pie is outstanding.

We have been going here for our anniversary for well over 15 years. The food and the service has always been excellant. I highly recommend the Public House if you would like to have a traditional New England experience. Don't leave without sampling the bakery which is out of this world.

Loved the restaurant and ambiance. We had reservations for 13 and we were seated on time. We made reservations early 2:00 pm so we could eat, check into our hotel and visit osv. Food and drink excellent but our waitress just could not get a handle on things. Other large groups who came after us were done way before us. At times we just couldn't find her. She was a bit overwhelmed but pleasant. Longest lunch I ever had. Lol. All in all worth it . Yes I would return but hope to get a better waitress.
