Loved the restaurant and ambiance. We had reservations for 13 and we were seated on time. We made reservations early 2:00 pm so we could eat, check into our hotel and visit osv. Food and drink excellent but our waitress just could not get a handle on things. Other large groups who came after us were done way before us. At times we just couldn't find her. She was a bit overwhelmed but pleasant. Longest lunch I ever had. Lol. All in all worth it . Yes I would return but hope to get a better waitress.

“Wonderful dinner at this historic inn”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 23, 2013

Friends and I had our Christmas celebration dinner yesterday. I hadn't been to Publick House in many years and my friends had never been. It was decorated for Christmas and we had fun walking through the rooms looking at the festive decorations. They had a giant gingerbread house with Christmas scenes inside the windows, really lovely.

Dinner was delicious. The bread basked was as good as I remembered. The pecan rolls were delicious with whipped butter. Our waitress brought us more without us having to ask! We all had fish entrees, the baked scrod and fish & chips. The house salad was very fresh, the veggies all crisp. And an entire gravy boat of blue cheese dressing was served per person!

No room for dessert after all that bread but we stopped in the Bake Shop on the way out to get a treat for later. Lots' to choose from there, muffins, turnovers and cake slices. Breads, pies and cakes. Everything looked delicious. Had a wonderful Christmas dinner and my friends loved the whole experience. We will definitely go back.

“Home style cooking”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

Enjoyed the Thanksgiving Feast. Salad, complete turkey dinner including, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, dressing, fresh cut dark and light meat turkey,, gravy and an extra gravy boat brought to the table,, homemade cranberry sauce and followed by Indian pudding and ice cream(out of the world) or deep dish Apple pie and ice cream and coffee for $29. Absolutely delicious. Sitting in comfortable upholstered chairs. Just great.

“HUGE portions!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 18, 2013

After seeing huge portions coming to the tables of our fellow diners, we opted for some house made chips, clam chowder and salad. The prices are very very reasonable. The breads served were good. Chips were fantastic! Only problem was the soup - it was loaded with potatoes. More of a potato chowder than a clam chowder which is too bad. It was a nice and thick chowder but it clearly needed more clams!
BTW-Stop in the bakery - to die for! Especially the pumpkin whoopie pie!
