My husband and I stayed here over my birthday weekend (the hotel left a bottle of wine for us in the room to celebrate). It was quite cold outside (-9 one night), but the rooms have gas fireplaces in it, so it was quite cozy and romantic. Red Lion is an colonial-era inn, so the rooms and the lobby are quite special.
We brought our dog, and he was really welcomed. Not just a little welcomed, but VERY welcomed. There was a nominal charge (maybe $25/night) for him, and he had to stay in a kennel while in the room by himself, which the hotel provided. They also provided treats and a dog bowl as well. Well-behaved dogs are allowed in the lobby where there's a huge fireplace and people hang out to drink, talk, read, whatever. Guests are inclined to speak to one another so it's quite social.
We ate all of our meals at the Red Lion as well. We had breakfast in the main dining room, which were fantastic. And we had dinner in the more casual Tavern. The food was truly spectacular.
It was a splurge for us: $1,300 for 3 nights, all meals, plus an abundance of cocktails (truth be told). But we'd do it again in a second. In fact, we plan on returning soon. It was a great, great experience.More
