My wife and I drove 7.5 hours for a get-away this past weekend, and also to see my dear sister who lives in the area.

We stayed in one of the houses which the hotel has under its umbrella. It was much more reasonably priced than the hotel, and in our opinion was really quite nice. Our room had its own private bath, and was quite spacious as well with all the facilities that the rooms in the hotel had.

Dining in the hotel was really very good. Good food, good presentation, good wait staff, and reasonably priced - not cheap, but reasonable.

Would we do it again? Absolutely!

This was my second stay at the Red Lion Inn. About 33 years ago, I visited there with my first husband. We were in our 20s and antiquing our way through Western Massachusetts. We stayed on the 4th floor. It was so interesting to return again after so many years. Did I remember it? Most of it. It really hasn't changed that much. This time, we stayed on the 3rd floor in the Main Inn, overlooking the pool. It was a cloudy, damp evening and we enjoyed dinner downstairs at the Lion's Den (see separate review if interested). Excellent front desk service; quiet and serene. My husband really enjoyed it as well, and is hopeful we will have an opportunity to stay there again.

The Red Lion Inn was a marvelous experience from start to finish. From the courteous & ever-smiling Aiden at the front desk, to the antique cage elevator ride upstairs, to the very comfortable & well-equipped room, to the superb fare in the main dining room. The Lion's Den was the perfect spot for a cold beer & good dinner - & we felt as if we had stepped back in history when sitting on the wide front porch, or walking through the many rooms filled with antiques & memorabilia. Every staff person was friendly, warm & welcoming. Truly a "must" if you're staying in the Berkshires. We will be back & are already looking forward to it!

This was the third time my husband and I have stayed at the Inn. The first was for my birthday while we were dating, the second was for a mini honeymoon right after we got married and this time was with our one year old son and in laws to celebrate a big anniversary for them. We love eating either in the dining room or tavern. The food is always great. We have always had fantastic rooms in the main building. (I need to try one of the off site rooms or PORCHES. )
We love visiting Simon the house cat. It's so fun that he just wanders in and out if the inn. Thank you for a great stay and always making it special.

The only reason we chose the inn was because a band we had seen before (Sun Mountain Fiddler) was playing there and we thought it would be convenient to stay and enjoy the area for a couple of days. What a pleasant surprise! We've driven past the Red Lion many times in the past and wrote it off as expensive and stuffy. This was a complete misconception. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The room clean and comfortable and reasonably priced. The dinner in the Lions Den Pub and breakfast were delicious.

Room Tip: Traffic from Route 7 is very noticeable if room is on street side and windows are open.

This old New England inn drips with charm and is a must-stay for those going this way. Be prepared for rooms that aren't modern, but the place is so much fun you wouldn't care if you had to stay in the cellar. We lucked out and picked the Fire House which was the original town fire station. When we checked in, the clerk apologized for their removal of the poles that took fireman down from their sleeping quarters, but everything else is authentic. There is only one king bed and despite the almost outrageous amount of space covering both floors, the fire house is only for two people. A real hoot. Full kitchen. Breakfast in the main dining room a delight.

Room Tip: If there are just two of you, book the Fire House despite the fact it is the most expensive room in...

We vacation at The Red Lion each year for our anniversary and just enjoy the welcoming environment at the inn and the surrounding area. Lots of museums to visit and great dining venues. If you like American history you will enjoy writing a postcard to a friend or family member while sitting at the same table President Lincoln sat at many times. The inn has the atmosphere of American Revolutionary period and is beautifully decorated for the holidays. We enjoy our yearly visit to The Divine Mercy Chapel where we reflect on all that we have to be grateful for. It is a beautiful area to visit.
