This place is my grandmothers wet dream. It is full of quilts, doilies, and antiques. The people at the front desk were somewhat informative and the location for the Berkshires was really good.

Also note, cellphones barely work in Stockbridge so if you use GoogleMaps are anything like that. Good luck too you.

I would say that The Red lIon Inn has a beautiful pool and hot tub area and that was a shock.

What a comfortable place to stay. Well worth the price.
This is like stepping back in time....shut off your phone and relax! Wish I had booked a massage ..and great year round pool. And the porch is great too!

We had our family association's annual reunion at "The Red Lion Inn" in early September 2013. The staff made everything absolutely perfect. The rooms were beautifully decorated. We had a banquet at the hotel and the food and service was A+. This is not a new hotel, being around since 1773, so it's a historic inn. It's cozy and made a unique venue for our reunion.

We had the most amazing time this past weekend at The Red Lion Inn. Arrived late Friday night, and walked in to the coziest lobby -- fireplace roaring, people chatting in comfy armchairs while sipping glasses of wine, a sweet little cat coming over to say hello.... It felt like a set for a movie taking place in a small New England town -- being from MA, we're used to that feel, but the quaintness still amazed us!

Our room was on the 3rd floor (not haunted, that we know of, although did have an old portrait of a somewhat judgmental looking woman above the fireplace directly across from the bed...haha!) -- we had a lovely bathroom with deep tub and nice little deck. It was fun to open the windows and have the crisp air fill the room!

The bed itself was huge and comfy, although if you need brand new furnishings this is not your place. Everything here is fairly old and worn in, but very comfortable and fits the surroundings very nicely. They do a turn down service every night and leave delicious chocolates by the bed, and also a list of which restaurants are open and when, and what musicians are playing at the downstairs bar.

All in all, you have to love the idea of being in an old property with old furnishings to appreciate this place. I'll tell you though, sitting out in a rocking chair out on the porch while a waiter brings you drinks on a crisp September is heaven! We'll definitely be back!!!!

Room Tip: We stayed in room 308 and loved it.

We purchased a guide book in Europe and followed the advice to stay in this Inn. It is certainly an old place but we would have preferred to see it in a slightly better condition. Rooms were ok, restaurant as well. The bathroom could be updated. Of course antique sanitation may look great for certain people but we saw better working antique looking faucets in other hotels. The water of the shower was difficult to control and splatters were the result. The dinner taken in the Lion Den was ok, nice selection of food and especially vine. The dinner and the dinner service were fine. Service for breakfast was very, very slow and the waitress never came back again for refills, etc. After all we were semi impressed.

Having been around since 1773, the Red Lion Inn has seen and made a lot of history. Located in the heart of the Berkshires in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, The Red Lion is in the cat bird's seat when it comes to visiting the southern Berkshire Hills. During our visit to Stockbridge we had a wonderful lunch here. The dining room is large and classic looking, but still very homey, Our food was attractively presented, service was very good and the ambiance could not have been better. At lunch you have your choice of dining in the dining room or in the tavern, Bioth locations have the same exact menu, The tavern being the less formal. We highly recommend lunch at the Red Lion.

I don't have a bucket list, but having lived for so many years in the Berkshires long ago, I always wanted to stay at the iconic Red Lion Inn. I wanted to be one of the grown-up guests sipping coctails on the large wonderful porch that overlooks the main street of Stockbridge, Massachusetts. So on this swing through the Berkshires I realized that dream. Rooms are expensive, often running $250-$350 per night but if you are willing to take a room upstairs with a shared bathroom down the hall, you can cut the price by more than half We did so and the price tumbled to $115 a night...a really great deal for such a nice place. Continental breakfast is also included and for a small amount, one can upgrade to a full breakfast. This hotel is crammed with antiques and it exudes history, being the longest continuously operating tavern in the area, tracing its lineage back to the 18th century. It has been an Inn for a very long time and it has for generations commanded a dominant space overlooking what was once the only stagecoach road from Albany to Boston. It is an antique, not an antique wannabe or a place that has been antiqued. But despite age and charm, the hotel has been well preserved and is comortable. The service is gracious, the rooms are sufficiently large, airy and roomy. The walls are very thin, though. We thought that this only applied to the inexpensive rooms upstairs, but I see from other reviews out here that even the expensive rooms have what some reviewers call "paper thin" walls. This led to what now seems like an amusing confrontation between Barbara (My wife) and our next door neighbors. The couple in the adjoining room was loud and evidently tipsy. I was out to dinner and to a bar with an old High School friend who lived in the area and who I have not seen for 50 years. Barbara dined with friends and returned to the room to face the tumult caused by the couple next door. It was early and she did not complain of the noise. But the couple on the other side of the noisy ones did call down and complained to the front desk. This enraged the male next door who assumed that Barbara was the complainer. I came back on the scene to the fellow yelling at Barbara from his room and then trying to get into our room through the adjoining door which was thankfully locked on our side. He yelled: "Did you call down and complain about me?" To which Barbara answered: "Uh...Not Yet!". He still could not grasp that Barbara was not the one who called down and later we found a note where he called Barbara "gutless" for not complaining directly to him. Not to end on a negative note, I liked our stay and would return there again, though hopefully with different neighbors on the other side. To be fair, I don't think Barbara would return...not because of her experience with the couple on the other side but because she really preferes to stay with friends or at quaint smaller B&Bs.

Room Tip: If you don't mind a shared bath those rooms are an amazing bargains. And we never had a time whe...
