“Rockwell's Museum Is A Look Through Yesteryear”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 14, 2014

I remembered a few of Rockwell's paintings that appeared on the cover of the Saturday Evening Post, but to see his entire original collection of those covers was awesome. Life in the U.S. during the 20th century showed America's fundamental ideals of democracy, freedom and human dignity. The collection includes over 700 paintings, drawings and studies plus much more. It was fun to walk through the museum guided by a docent, watch a short film of Rockwell's life, and roam through the 36-acre picturesque property overlooking the Housatonic River Valley. It's a must-see for all ages.
The museum is located at 9 Glendale Road in Stockbridge, MA.

“Perfect Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

Although this is not a large museum, it is a perfect size for experiencing America's most famous illustrator. The docent's talk was very good, and made the exhibit even more interesting. We even bought a souvenir from the nicely stocked gift shop.

“Norman Rockwell Museum”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 12, 2014

My business partner and I had the good fortune to visit the Norman Rockwell Museum just prior to a seminar at the Option Institute. The museum is an extraodinary opportunuty to see Mr. Rockwell's orginal works which are surprisingly large. Most importantly, the ENTIRE collection of Saturday Evening Post covers for which Mr. Rockwell is best known are assembled and displayed. All of the personel are helpful and the guided tours highly recommended. There is ample opportunity to acquire lithographs and other representations of Mr. Rockwell's artwork. A true treasure, a must see! Best to visit May - October when Mr. Rockwell's studio is available for viewing as well.

“A little gem”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 9, 2014

Though we've lived in the area for more than a decade, this was our first visit to the museum. Housed in a beautiful building, the collection is sure to give you a new perspective on the artist's work. Rockwell was steadfast in identifying himself as an illustrator rather than a fine artist, but his work suggests otherwise, and his humility merely adds to the charm. Sure, some of the messages are a bit hokey and ham-fisted, but Rockwell's heart was certainly in the right place, and given his popularity, his inclusive values might even be considered subversive.

“Enjoyable whether you're a big fan or not!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 4, 2014

I'm not a fan of Norman Rockwell, and by that I mean that although I like his work, I've never really followed him. I only came to this museum because my family visited me in NY and wanted to make the drive to see it. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the museum, and had a great time! As it's based on just one person, don't expect a museum that would compare to the country's finest, but do expect tons of his artwork displayed all over the place, and interesting history about him. If you're near the area, you should visit, as it's a much more relaxing area than Boston.
