I love the Red Jacket in NH, and expected the same quality here, but did not find it. The rooms were fairly expensive for the off-season, and definitely did not warrant the high prices. The room was straight from 1980, including velour blankets (cigarette hole included), smelly bed spreads, a gigantic TV, and a really loud refrigerator. It just felt extremely worn and old, and just not clean. The beds were OK, beyond the disgusting blankets.

The bathroom was borderline disgusting. The only redeeming feature was the great water pressure in the shower. However, after taking a shower, I realized there was dark mold growing on the ceiling behind the door - how did someone miss that?? Also, we didn't have any problems with the plumbing, but our friends in a different room said their shower didn't drain.

The hotel is right on the beach, which was nice, and has a restaurant on site. The outdoor pool looked nice (although smaller than advertised) but we didn't use it. It's in a good location for getting around the Cape, but I wouldn't stay here again. I know Cape lodging is always overpriced and usually low-quality, but I was really surprised that the Red Jacket would have a property like this.

Room Tip: It sounds like some rooms have been renovated - ask for those, if they exist.

Thanks for letting us know how you felt about the room after your recent visit. Most of our rooms have been redecorated and our room rate is considered to be a value based upon location in the hotel. All rooms have had some upgrades over the off season and we are pleased that the negative comments communicated about the bed coverings have been addressed in all rooms. We look forward to earning your praise in your next visit which I will be happy to personally address.

We went there last September for a week-end. On a positive note: the swimming pools are very nice, the breakfast is good, and the beach in front of the hotel is really nice. However, the rooms are average and a bit outdated. And the hotel is way overpriced! Overall, good hotel but far too expensive for what it is…

My husband, daughter and I recently spent one night at the Red Jacket for my birthday. I have been coming to the Cape for many years and never have stayed here before - what a mistake on my part.

We stayed on a Saturday night, the last night they were open before they closed for the season. We had a oceanfront lawn room and it was beautiful. The grounds are immaculately maintained - not a blade of grass out of place. That night there was was also a wedding taking place on the lawn and that looked just spectacular. We did spend some time roaming around the property. The outdoor pools are great and the indoor pool is very large.

The room we stayed in was clean, had a flat screen TV and what appeared to be updated bedding. It was clean. Unlike the previous poster, there was no mold or must in my room. My only complaint was that the bathroom was very small. We had the opportunity to go to the bar and the bartender was OUTSTANDING! My husband ordered breakfast and we ate on our balcony. The food was wonderful - absolutely no complaints. I think one of the best things about this resort was the attention that the resort staff paid to their guests. Every single staff person had a smile on their face and were very willing to offer assistance. They were great - above average!

We will come back for vacation in the summer, hopefully for a week, even though it is expensive. It offers everything you would need, beach, restaurant, recreation - you never have to leave the property to fight Cape traffic!

It is nearly impossible to find a BnB or waterfront hotel that will rent you room for less than 3 nights during the summer, but this place does. It is well kept, right on the beach and a nice resort set up. Room was clean and being able to walk out onto the beach was a plus. The breakfast was good. We enjoyed our stay and recommend this place to anyone seeking a Cape get away. It is close to Hyannis and the ferry.

Room Tip: If you have the money the beach front ones are best (hence the price) but all rooms are good here.

Spent the Columbus day weekend with my wife, for our anniversary at the Red jacket Resort. Friends of ours had suggested the property. It did not disappoint. We booked a riverside room. Had requested the second floor, for the view, and not to have noise above us. Had a king size bed, room was very clean, bed was comfortable. Flat screen TV, nice balcony to sit out and watch the boats coming up the river. Excellent location for the fireworks display on Sunday evening. Staff was so nice. Had nice conversations with Patrick, the groundskeeper, who made suggestions for dining in the area. He was a sports enthusiast as I am, and we talked about the Red Sox, and Patriots, as well. The grounds were well manicured, the beach was very clean. Hotel was near capacity for the weekend with a tour group. Although we didn't use the pool, it was well maintained. Crystal clear. Pricing was about right for a property of this caliber. With my AAA discount for the 3 nights it averaged out about $185 per night. had we stayed a fourth night, it would have been 1/2 price for the 4th night. The morning we checked out we went to breakfast at the hotel. The breakfast buffet was $12.95 per person. Coffee included. They had fresh fruit, 4 kinds (pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew) as well as yogurt, and danish. Cereal, bacon, eggs, sausage, pancakes, and sausage croissant sandwiches. Food was hot, very tasty and stations were filled when necessary. Am looking forward to going back next year. In previous years we have stayed out on route 28 at different motels, at about 1/2 the price per night. We are now spoiled. Thank you Red Jacket for a unforgettable weekend.......

Room Tip: I would recommend the second floor. Riverside is a good value, quiet as well.

We stayed in October 2013 over the holiday weekend. we had an ocean view room....we could see the ocean and we could see the big tent that also over looks the ocean. Not too bad as we spent most of our time at the ocean. the ocean is right outside this resort.
There is plenty of clean sand, even when it's high tide. they have two outdoor pools and lots of lounge chairs.
we used the indoor pool which was big and clean. the hotel provides good size towels for the pools.
the pool is a little dark due to lighting so make sure you can see where your children are.
check in stay were very friendly. on check out they have staff on golf carts helping people bring luggage to a car. never seen that before.
the location is great and you are close to all the stores and resturants on rte 28.

some one mentioned the bathrooms were small. I disagree....you're in and out not sure how much bigger you need them. the sink is separate from the toliet and tub which i think is great.

Room Tip: river side views looked very peaceful and i would try that next time. no matter where you stay you h...

For a number of years my husband and myself would stand on the jetty at Seagull Beach, stare across the channel to the Red Jacket Beach Resort, and say "Someday..". Well, someday arrived this past week and it was everything we had hoped for.

First, the resort: the Beach Resort is beautifully situated, off at the end of a road, well off the beaten path, giving it a nice secluded feel. It's one of the quietest places I've ever stayed at; the restful sound of the waves and the cries of the gulls are often the only things to be heard. The private beach is lovely and allows for some very nice ocean swimming opportunities. For those who prefer to swim in a pool, there are both indoor and outdoor pools, as well as a hot tub (indoor) and a very nice kiddie pool (outside). There are both a restaurant and lounge on-site - if you don't want to leave the grounds, you don't have to. We were there off-season (second week of October), so the restaurant was only serving breakfast and lunch, but during the summer dinner is also available. We say evidence of room service, but didn't order any. We did eat breakfast there twice; the food was very good, and the service was excellent. There is also a spa available in-season; can't speak to that. Everything is very well maintained, and the landscaping is lovely. Some may find the decor to be a bit dated, but I thoroughly enjoyed the look and feel of both the public spaces and our room.

Which brings me to the staff: Everyone we interacted with was friendly, warm, and helpful, from the wait staff to maintenance. There were a few standouts, however. First was Marge, the concierge who was our first contact. Check-in here is three o'clock: we knew that but, due to light traffic and eagerness, we found ourselves pulling into the parking lot at 11:30. We thought we'd just wander around and take a look at the place. Then we decided to find out if it was possible to get an early check-in. We spoke to Marge, who immediately took us to the front desk. Long story short, not only were we able to check in three hours early (!) but, after mentioning that we were celebrating our 30th anniversary, we were upgraded from an ocean-view queen to an ocean-front king! We were just thrilled, and even more so when we saw the view from our balcony. Sadly, I don't know the name of the desk clerk who gave us this upgrade, but Beach Resort, if you're reading this, it was the woman on the desk on Sunday, October 6th around noon. She did an outstanding job, and I would have gotten her name if I weren't so excited. There was Chris, the food and beverage manager who chatted with us and bought us a round of drinks. Last but by no means least are two bartenders, Doug and Jessie. Doug was extremely knowledgeable about beers, wines, liquors, etc., and very friendly and fun. Jessie was also very friendly and helpful. They both made our visit just that much more enjoyable.

Sorry for the really long review, but I just can't say enough about this place. It should definitely be on your list of places to try. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: Ocean-view rooms may have an obscured view due to a large tent, depending on the season - I would as...
