“Fantastic and Very Clean Inn !!!”
Reviewed January 9, 2011

Wow! What a great experience at Captain Farris Inn. My mom and I wanted to experience the Cape for the first time. We did our homework and found this inn via this web site. Many of the previous guests wrote in positive experiences. They were not exagerating! Nancy, the Inn Keeper, is friendly, hospitible, and an incredible cook/baker who will go out of her way to make your stay comfortable. You not only step back in time with this historic Inn, the decorating is impecible. I might also add that the house is updated to modern standards without losing the history. There are home baked goodies to welcome the guests back every night after exploration and inviting movies that you can chose from and take back to your room. The rooms are so clean and well maintained, that I wanted to go home and rip apart my place and redecorate! Breakfast was jaw dropping incredible! Home baked muffins, belgian waffles, hot tea or coffee, fresh fruit and eggs. It was served to me -I did not have to cook! The reason for this first trip was to celebrate my last vacation as a single woman. Mom and I had a wonderful time. Now I will be going back ( we are already booked) with my husband for our first year anniversary. We will be back again and again- that I am certain.

We spent a wonderful weekend in The Phoebe Suite of this beautiful bed and breakfast. This suite is the top floor of the carraige house and is comfortable, private and just beautiful. We loved having a private deck, a fireplace and jacuzzi all in our suite! We enjoyed going over to the main house for breakfast each morning and for cordials and wine in the evening with other guests. Nancy and her staff were friendly and helpful. Our suite and the main inn was very clean and inviting and the grounds were so pretty with the leaves just beginning to fall. Overall a wonderful experience.

I was never much of a fan of Bed and Breakfasts in the past but after staying at The Capt. Farris House this past weekend I have been converted! The food was delicious, the decor warm and inviting but the secret ingredient to this stay is the owner, Nancy. Nancy is a delight and fills the home with a warm, relaxing feeling...one of those people that shortly into the conversation you feel you're talking to an old friend. Another great addition to the staff is Gail. She takes great care greeting you each morning with a warm, genuine smile and arms full of fresh juices and coffee to enjoy before the breakfast creations appear. I would recommend the Capt. Farris House to one and all - it was the perfect anniversary celebration for us! C and C from Weston, CT

The Captain Farris House was just as wonderful as everyone said it was. The Bass River is right down the street. The house and grounds were beautiful, bed comfortable, and we had access to the kitchen and living area. Free internet access and parking. The gourmet breakfast made by Gail and her staff was to die for. Innkeeper Nancy was very friendly and helpful. It would be a shame for you to miss out on this treasure.

First time at Captain Farris and to Cape Cod. The Captain Farris had been recommended to us and we were not disappointed. The staff, and the owners, were extremely friendly, the breakfasts very good and the provision of free muffins, cookies and coffee etc was great. The House did take a day to get used to with its older style decoration and rooms, and there were a few areas that could have been tidied up e.g. paintwork. But some would say that's the charm of a period house. Noise from outside was minimal but would be noticeable if there was more traffic.

We would definately recommend the Captain Farris if staying in the area. There are several nice restaurants nearby and all places of note are within easy reach.

This was our first stay at the inn and it was an odd experience. The breakfasts were good; the room was disappointing. We stayed in the Phoebe White suite and I guess we expected something a little more elegant. Old can be charming, but the room and furnishings just seemed, well—old. Cheap slipcovers on the chairs in the sitting area, dusty fake flower arrangements. Most of the batteries in the remotes for the electronics were dead; the wi-fi got no signal in the room; the gas fireplace didn't work because they hadn't turned it on (they did take care of it when we asked about it though). The bathroom was small—you had to close the bathroom door to get into the jacuzzi (the tub was nice, though). The carriage house that the room was in was right on the street, so the traffic noise was quite noticeable when we were in bed. And there's a fire station down the street (we wondered why we heard sirens so often).
We didn't see much of the innkeepers—at most of the inns we go to the innkeepers are pretty visible, always asking how your day was, do you need help or advice on things to do, how is the room, etc. When we checked out of this inn, we we had to use the phone in the lobby to contact the innkeeper who asked if we wanted to use the same credit card. When we said yes, that was that. No "We hoped you enjoyed your stay, thanks for coming" or anything—just told us to leave our key on the kitchen counter. Pretty impersonal. Anyway, maybe this is the best inn in the area, but nothing like the inns we've been to in Vermont (Windham Hill Inn) or New Hampshire (Inn at Thorn Hill)...but maybe that's because their rates tend to be higher.

My husband and I just returned from our 5th stay at The Captain Farris House! Cape Cod is our favorite vacation spot, and this bed and breakfast is the best! The house is tastefully decorated, bedrooms meticulously clean and comfortable, and located in the perfect spot for easy access to beaches, bike trails, restaurants, and shopping. Nancy, Michael, and staff treat guests like family, adding a myriad of personal and memorable touches to the visit. One of the high points of each morning is the delicious breakfast prepared by Nancy and served by her friendly staff! What a Treat!
We look forward to our 6th visit next summer. Our vacation would not be the same without The Captain Farris House. We highly recommend it!
