We do mini-golf every year when we visit the Cape and the kids always choose Pirate's Cove. We stay in Harwich, so it can be a long drive down a busy Rte 28 (almost 30 minutes), but it's worth it. It's a definitely a popular touristy spot - prepare to pay $35 for a family of 4 for this experience. We've gone at night, but also in the afternoons the last two years. The place is always hopping! This year we had to wait at each hole behind 4 families. It's fun and worth it, but something to keep in mind if you have little ones with short attention-spans and are tight on time. If you ask when you buy your tickets, they'll give you an estimate on how long it should take to play through. It usually takes over an hour.
The 2 elaborate and beautiful courses to choose from are both lots of fun with cannons you can shoot yourself and automatically going off intermittently in the front pond/lower course. We enjoyed the fun pirate facts, props in the caves and great photo op spots (like underneath the pirate hanging from a rope with a shark underneath on the lower course). There is water all around, so you're likely to lose at least one ball if you have little ones who are just learning to play. But they will replace them. They also give the kids cute hats, flags and temporary tattoos when you're done. Our kids always leave there acting like silly pirates! They return to their grandparents house saying "Arrrrr" and "Give me all your treasures!"
