My husband and I ate at the Old Mill during a weekend away in the Berkshires. The room is beautiful, the service was good, BUT this place is WAY OVERPRICED. We are from NYC and we can get far better meals at pretty much half the price. I understand the whole "farm to table" shtick (although where are you getting all these veggies in the dead of winter?) but come on- this is pure overhead. We actually sat there thinking - ok the atmosphere (fireplace, lighting, table settings) could take up $5 of the meal. The dish still wouldn't be worth 23 dollars. The eggplant parm dish was $20. and it didn't even come with pasta!!!! I will say that the desserts were really good but I can't see breaking the bank to return.

We had a family gathering for a celebration of my mother's life at the Old Mill. We had to arrange this from afar and were so impressed with not only the attention to detail but also the quality of the food. The restaurant is also very quaint and welcoming with a wonderful old fashion fireplace. The service was impeccable and the food over the top delicious! Thank you Old Mill for making a very sad time a memorable experience for all of our family and friends.

Living in Hudson, NY it has to take an outstanding restaurant to make us get in our car to drive to dinner. The Old Mill is one of them. I don't understand how this restaurant can be rated anything other than Excellent and in none of the previous reviews that gave a 4-Star rating stated anything that would merit one less. Food, service and atmosphere set to the highest standards.

We were warmly greeted by Terry and shown to a cozy table. We were immediately given water and shortly after placed our drink order. The evening's specials made it so difficult to choose, and the chef's use of seasonal ingredients made it even harder. The bread basket offered a fantastic warm baguette and grisini (thin breadsticks) with a roasted pepper butter and olives. It was hard not fill up on the bread! Our first courses were a special smoked salmon served on a flavorful potato pancake with creme fraiche. The other were plump mussels steamed with white wine and herbs - more bread please!

Entrees were a special grilled swordfish that was outstanding. The other was deemed the best calves liver ever. Perfectly cooked to medium-rare, topped with caramelized onions it was melt in your mouth delicious. Desserts of profiteroles (an OM classic) and a special warm walnut and bread pudding were to die for. The decaf coffee tasted like french press - just wonderful.

In short, the Old Mill is a 5-Star dining. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

I believe I have dined here over 100 times since this restaurant opened in the late 1970's. One owner (Terry Moore) in the restaurants lifetime assures continuity and in this case assures consistantly good food. You will find no surprises on the generally American-"continental" menu. There are always a few specials, Friendly, but professional service. The restaurent is truly situated in an old mill. However it is designed well with comfortable tables and good lighting. There is a small and cozy nook of a bar where you can wait for your table or just hang out. Note that the restaurant takes no reservations for under groups of five. Usually not a problem unless it is prime dining time on a Sat evening in high summer.

I was surprised that the Old Mill was smack up on the road given the lovely rustic photos on their website, but once inside, it had old world charm. Nice cozy bar with a good cocktail pour. Nice service, good wine list. Excellent roast duck, a special, and prime rib, also a special. A peach tartine with buttermilk ice cream was actually peach pie, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. They do not take reservations, but we had a very short wait arriving a little before 7 on a Saturday night.
