“Excellent B&B”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2011

I was extremely pleased with this B&B. The location was very convenient and still quiet, the room and kitchen were spotless, the bed was very comfortable, and the wifi was free and worked! Those in themselves would have been enough to make it a great choice, but Christina went out of her way to be helpful and couldn't have been nicer, which is what really made it a special place to stay.

I wish I could go to the Boston area more often and stay in Bowers House! I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

My sister and I went on a little road trip to Boston. On our first two nights we stayed at a 4 star hotel, where we paid $70 extra to park and $30 extra for WiFi and the water in our room was $5 a bottle. Our second two nights we stayed at "Bowers House Bed and Breakfast" in Somerville MA. We arrived later than we expected and there was a welcome note on the door for us with instructions. The room was spacious, very clean and air conditioned. We had our own bathroom across the hall. There was a lovely sitting room with leather furnature and a beautiful kitchen with granite and stainless steel. Cookies and fruit on the table. Plenty to choose from for breakfast. It also included free parking and free WiFi. It was very centrally located with the T right down the street and lots of restaurants and cafe's around the corner. We even walked to Havard Square in about 20min. Christine was very welcoming and made us feel right at home. We would recommend this B&B to anyone!

Christina was such a warm and accommodating host, she really went out of her way to make sure that we were comfortable and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. Our room with private bath across the hall was very comfortable and nicely decorated. We slept well in the comfy king bed. We enjoyed the flexibility of the serve-yourself arrangements for breakfast, with plenty of healthy choices: pastries, breads, fruit, yogurt, cereal, oatmeal. We also enjoyed that the kitchen was open for us to use at any time, with a plate of cookies that appeared every afternoon. The location of the B&B was perfect for us. It was a very short walk to the Davis Square T stop which allowed us to leave our car parked during our stay and explore the city by train. We were intimidated by the thought of driving in Boston, but found that it was an easy drive to get from the interstate to Bowers House. We also wanted to see the Tufts campus while we were in town, and it was an easy walk from Bowers House. We had fun exploring Davis Square itself, with it's little shops, restaurants and bars, which are practically right on the doorstep of Bowers House. Cristina gave us great recommendations for places to try. It was a wonderful stay!

Christina is a wonderful innkeeper and very hospitable. My daughter who is relocating to Boston and I spent 3 nights. Our first day, Christina walked us up to Davis Square to point out places that may be of interest to us. Our room and bath were spotless. Neither of us desire a hot breakfast so the items provided were fine. Plus, the yogurt, bottled water, bread, fruit, individual fresh brewed coffee, cereal etc. are available in the kitchen at all hours as the kitchen is always "open". Davis Square is a "happening" area. The locaton is 2 stops from Harvard however, one can walk the distance in less time than the T takes.

Christina and Steven are wonderful hosts with a great location! Just a block from Davis Square, which has lots of shops, restaurants, and a small movie theater. Easy 4-block walk to the T, and Harvard University (in Cambridge) is just 2 stops away. We purchased the 7 day T pass for $15 and used it to get all over Boston. Easy to get to a Red Sox game via the T. Very quiet and peaceful at this B&B! Breakfast of cereal, croissants, fruit, yogurt, etc. was fresh, most of it available in the guest kitchen anytime. Bakery cookies and bottled water for later in the day very nice. We had the queen room which had a good-sized closet, nice private bathroom, flat screen satellite TV, and wireless internet access for our laptop...Christina offered her computer to use if we hadn’t had one though, and was VERY HELPFUL and knowledgeable of the area in general...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

An excellent B&B in the heart of Davis Square. Within minutes of the T and all the wonderful restaurants and shops that make Davis Sq. such a charming locale. The house is beautifully renovated, the kitchen is always open and very well stocked, the rooms are immaculate, and best of all, the hostess, Christina Li, is by far the warmest and most welcoming host/hostess I've ever done business with. Highly recommended.
