We ate in The Tavern which does not take reservations (you can call ahead and put your name on their list a half hour prior to coming). We were lucky to get two seats at the bar and had a fantastic dinner (salmon was great!) The food is consistently good as is the service. A great place for a cozy dinner with the fireplace going!

We eat at the tavern at the Sherborn Inn so regularly that I never think to post a review, however, it is worth noting as tonight we had another great meal there. The atmosphere is welcoming and there is always a nice fire on chilly nights. The entryway hall and tavern sport a new art exhibit every few weeks by local artists which is totally appreciated on the way to dinner and while waiting on a busy night. There is often a sports game on the large screen at the bar, but it does not interfere with others seated in the pub where there is a pleasant buzz of conversation. We have eaten here most nights of the week and the food is reliably good, menu offerings are interesting and the staff are willing to make accommodations. The range of the menu can suit a variety of tastes and appetites. Accommodations are made for guests with allergy requirements or gluten free. One of our family members has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy and we are confident when we eat here that the food served to him is appropriately prepared to avoid these allergens. The fish and chips tonight was particularly delicious - very fresh and a generous portion! The service is good, wait times for meals are reasonable even when there is a large crowd, and we never hesitate to bring friends here! I should mention that this review is for the tavern only and that the Sherborn Inn does offer a more formal dining room option with reservations, brunch, functions, etc. which this review does not cover.

My sisters-in-law and I were planning a 90th birthday party for my mother-in-law that was held on July 7th with a gathering of 27 family members from all over the country. Just as we were in the booking stage, we noticed the negative reviews on this site. We have all been to lunch and dinner at the inn on numerous occasions throughout the years and found this baffling. They went to dinner there again, just to be sure, and had a perfectly wonderful meal and experience.
Through the process of making the arrangements with their event planner, Judy, to the day of the party, we had nothing but excellent service, food, and accommodation. We had nine children in the group, ranging from 8 years old to two 5 month old babies and all of their needs were also amply met. We also had access to the tented, outdoor patio and grounds. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
In addition, the inn has several rooms upstairs for overnight guests. My husband and I and our two sons with their families stayed here the night of the party. The rooms were beautiful and charming and included a complimentary breakfast in the morning.
Please note, the inn has several "party rooms", all of which were busy with happy guests throughout our stay. A true sign of a successful establishment!

What's not to like about going to The Sherborn Inn (and the Out) for a casual meal, last minute take-out, or group events. The staff is wonderful, the menu offers tasty staples (Shepard's Pie or Spinach Salad) and yummy specials and the atmosphere is never stuffy or boring. The Sherborn Yacht Club just hosted it's 50th Season BBQ there and it was a great evening for all ages. The covered back patio and lawn are a special place to enjoy a summer meal with family and friends. Thanks to Judy R. and Phil C. and the friendly staff for always making it an enjoyable meal out!
