I feel like Sichuan Gourmet serves Chinese food, not the usual American-Chinese fare. All the chinese speaking patrons give me that feeling too. You can get the sweet and sour chicken and other fare that you are used to, but there are a lot of very interesting items on the menu.
Order out of your comfort zone and you will be pleasantly surprised. The server can seem indifferent, because she doesn't smile all the time, but she is very nice and will make a recommendation if pressed politely. You need to convince her that you are not afraid of spicy or you'll get the bland version for Americans. The food is less greasy and sticky than your average Chinese restaurant and you won't feel rueful after eating there.
