Stopped in for lunch after a long day of dance competition in nearby East Providence. In my past visits to Newport Creamerys (various locations) they have all been average in terms of quality, food, service, etc. This particular visit fell below such average. Melt sandwich bread was barely toasted at all. French fries were extremely limp and greasy. Bacon on one of our melts was completely burned to a crisp. The server was very inattentive, disappearing for long periods of time, not refilling water, was not even busy in the restuarant.
The mens restroom door is constructed such that you can see the urinal from a large number of the restuarant booths. That's not something people want to see when they are eating. Especially if it is occupied.
The restuarant itself was filled with some sort of smoke from something having been burnt in the kitchen prior to our arrival.
The ice cream, though, was pretty good as expected. However, the caramel topping two of us had was very congelled and tough to eat.
Will not be returning to this particular location. However, that being said, this could have just been a bad day for the restuarant or manager. I assume it typically provides much better service and quality than what we experienced. And also, this type of chain is not expected to have high quality food and service. I would have expected average at best. It's just this particualr time we got pretty sub par quality and service. It's probably hit or miss I'm guessing.
