“Delightful”
Reviewed June 22, 2010

My husband and I were traveling to Fall River for a Jesse Winchester concert at the Narrows Center for the Arts to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We hadn't been in the area before but liked that Nichols was easy to get to and local to so many opportunities to explore without paying the price of being on the water. Dorothy and Walt were kind, friendly and engaging, and we thoroughly enjoyed sharing huge, healthy breakfasts with them and other guests in a relatively formal setting in the dining room! Dorothy is a decorator at heart, and the home was lovely and cozy. We stayed in the Muriel Room, which was small but comfortable, and have decided it is our favorite. We also enjoyed the opportunity for one of us to be using the in-room sink while the other used the private bathroom. Dorothy and Walt made us feel like family, and were very helpful and knowledgeable about the area, helping us to decide what to spend our Saturday doing. We look forward to seeing them again in the future!

I wanted to leave my first review because my husband and I rely so much on Trip Advisor when making travel arrangements.

We stayed at the Nichols Guest House on a rainy evening in mid-October. We arrived late (about 10 PM), which was no problem because there was a note on the door guiding us to the key. Our reservation was for the Muriel room, and it was exactly what I expected--small, but full of charm. We knew going in that we were staying at a 200 year-old home, so we'd be sacrificing space for a cozy authenticity. The room had (among other features) a shower, toilet and vanity as well as a fireplace, TV, VCR, DVD player, ceiling fan and a gorgeous quilt on the bed. The only negative was the water pressure (not the strongest), but it was no big deal for our one-night stay. We fell asleep watching a DVD thanks to Walt, one of our incredibly friendly hosts, who offers up his movie collection to guests.

Breakfast in the morning was awesome! We sat at the formally set dining room table with the other guests while enjoying fruit, pancakes, cheesy home fries (yum), ham and eggs, and various cakes. Walt even gave us some carrot cake for the ride home! The whole experience was great. We really felt like we were staying with friends, as Dorothy and Walt literally opened up their home to us. I really recommend this B&B to anyone who enjoys meeting other people while traveling, and to anyone who is looking for a cozy and unique place with an interesting history! It far surpassed any boring, generic hotel we could have found on our trip to Providence (which is only 10-15 minutes away). If you're thinking about calling them up to make a reservation--do it!!

The Nichols B&B was a nice place to stay because it has the 'staying with your Aunt' kind of feeling. It is very welcoming, cozy, and you feel like you have known the innkeeper for a while because she makes you feel so comfortable. The rooms are small but have been redone to accomodate a full vanity and shower. I will definitely stay again if I end up traveling back to the area.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was lovely and conveniences provided. Our innkeepers Dorothy and Walt were welcoming and we enjoyed our evenings together and delicious breakfasts with friendly conversations.Dorothy and Walt helped us with directions and maps and were very knowledgeable regarding the New England area and all it has to offer. We will definitely revisit Nichols Guest Rooms when in the area again.

We cannot say enough about Dorothy and Walt. Walt greeted us at the door after a very long day of driving. He offered us some refreshments and showed us to our rooms as well as offering to carry our luggage. We only stayed a few minutes as we wanted to go into Providence to see the Waterfire display. Walt explained the directions and gave us a map to the downtown Providence area.
In the morning, Dorothy had prepared a beautiful breadkfast-more than we could have eaten for the whole day. Dorothy and Walt joined us for breakfast and engaged us with conversation. We learned that Dorothy had grown up in this house and it contained quite a bit of history as it was over a hundred years old. My husband likes to fish, so of course the topic of fishing is a must. Although our stay was short, we enjoyed ourselves and would be happy to stay again in the future. A definite thumbs up to the good people at Nichols Guest House in Seekonk.

We stayed at the Nichols B & B the last night of a 10 day New England trip. We knew from reading the reviews that the inn would be small but we decided to give it a try. There were some things we liked about the inn such as the convenient location to the airport and downtown Providence sights. The breakfast in the morning was fair and we really enjoyed visiting with Walt. He was a very gracious host. However, due to the condition of the room we would never stay there again nor be able to recommend it to friends.
We stayed in the Eleanor room. We've stayed in many cozy B & Bs before, but this room was ridiculously small. That alone would have been okay except there were many other issues. The king size bed had a worn-out mattress that might have been original to the house. On it were 2 totally flat pillows which made sleeping very uncomforable. Our room faced the street and although we kept the windows closed there was loud traffic throughout the night. The tv and vcr were a nice bonus but neither remote had batteries that worked. The bathroom shower leaked water into the bedroom and the bath mat towel had not been washed-it was stiff as a board. The bath towels were very small and scratchy as well. The list can go on but you get the picture.
I realize that to many people these might seem like minor issues but we've never stayed at an inn with so little attention to detail. Definitely not worth $99.00!

Early 1800 houses heated with fireplaces will have small rooms. New down pillows and mattresses are on the beds with a total of 7 pillows per room. The showers will leak if the glass doors are not closed tightly. The linens are era dried outdoors on the clothesline: ecologically green.
Fresh batteries were in the DVD & VCR remotes but need to be pointed directly at these devices (not the TV):A technological challenge for some guests at times. Seekonk is not NY City nor the desert. Rooms in the back of the house afford bird calls vs. cars. It is our goal to have every guest relax and enjoy their stay. Thank you to all who've left happy due perhaps in part to their straight forward communication.
