We visted this tea room this June. We were seated right away and were very excited as we had read some good reviews. The tea we ordered arrived weak and to make matters worse they do not allow for refills, they serve the tea in small pots which probably hold only about 12 oz of tea so a refill is a MUST! We both ordered a different slice of their dessert (which they leave on the side board in the dinining room UNCOVERED and right next to table of diners...) We had ordered a slice of cake and a frosted mint brownie and both pieces were dry. We let our server as well as the lady who checked us out know about our problem but neither cared. So unfortunaly this will be our LAST visit to this tea room, we will seek out somewhere other to visit while on our vacation.

I have been to this tea room many times, and liked it a lot better before it changed ownership. The food is pretty good, but I think that the cleanliness has gone downhill (dirty tablecloths and sugarbowls) and I have had several bad experiences there. My baby shower was hosted at the Dunbar. After we had eaten, presents were exchanged and the owner made us feel very uncomfortable about staying the additional half hour. The last time I went, and it will be the LAST time, I was asked to move my car because it overlapped into two parking spaces. It was 11:00 am on a Monday, I was the only customer in the tearoom, and was in the middle of my lunch. Needless to say, neither I nor my friends will frequent the Dunbar again.

Just have to echo the other reviewer. We were there Nov. 2005. We also thought we would be having tea but could not resist specials from the full lunch menu and we were further surprised when we decided to try their unusual (to us) beer and ale instead of tea. Atmosphere, staff, food all were great...so enjoyable. We also liked the fact that we could have tea, lunch or whatever (like dessert) from 11:30 to 4 or is that 4:30 PM? Oh and the location is convenient just across from the picturesque Grist Mill.

Everything from the aroma of the tea shop to the quant pleasing effect of the eating area with a fireplace and fully displayed dessert options make this the best tea room experience I've ever had. My friends and I intended to go for afternoon tea, but couldn't resist the lunch menu and HOMEBAKED desserts (see pictures). The decor is out of a storybook, and the food was just as good. Oh and how could I forget to comment on the tea- unsurpassed. (I had blackcurrant)
