great to watch the boats come through the canal. Good information to go through as well as the exhibits. Rocking chairs on the outside were a really nice touch

I get the sense that this attraction is not on many tourists' radar (no pun intended) and I'm hoping that will change. The Army Corps of Engineers has created a terrific little museum and more people should visit. My family and I learned a lot about the history of the Cape Cod Canal, the bridges spanning it, and the current boat traffic control processes in place to ensure the safety of all. They also offer a scavenger hunt and prize for the kids, which is always a great activity to keep them engaged. If you are Sandwich and have some time, visit the museum and then take a little walk along the canal to enjoy the beautiful view.

This was a nice spot to walk along the canal or turn the other direction and walk along a rocky beach. The visitor center is small but with some friendly staff and a few interesting displays. It also has some ranger led walks which are especially geared toward children. Another bonus is it is free.

This is a great spot to visit that is maintained by the Army Corp. of Engineers. Learn from a short film how the canal came into existence, when the two bridges were constructed and the original bridge.

You also get to view the length of the canal with radar and mounted cameras to see boat traffic. This and a lot more will entertain you for hours.

Watch one of several fascinating videos about how the Cape Cod Canal was built, take a test-simulation of driving a large cargo ship through the canal, fiddle with all kinds of sea and boat related things, ask a ranger questions, walk out the path to the jetty, ask a friendly ranger questions, or just sit for a picnic and watch the enormous ships come through so close it will feel like you can almost reach out and touch them. And best of all, it's all FREE!!! Adults and kids alike will love this place.
