Besides the beautiful walks, trails, bushes, flowers and water falls there are three buildings. One that holds old cars, one that has a merry go round that one can ride as many times as you would like and also has an interesting collection of items from days gone by and the third has changing exhibits. In 2014 it's called Wicked Plants. Set up like a home with each room showing/telling you about plants that take over a landscapes or ponds and others that can cause death or sickness. Not for young children but very interesting. There is Hidden Hollow for Children. A snack bar is available in case you get hungry.. so plan to spend a few hours.

This was a first time visit for me in early May, The cost of $18 PP/per visit (adult) may be offset by looking into the purchase of a family membership. If you live in the area, this would be very worthwhile since certainly one visit will lure you into coming back! With an small herb garden, a labyrinth, a terrific climbing area for children, a small lunch spot set at a crossroad of the pathway, gorgeous trees/ shrubs, benches and an interesting serenity waterfall, no one in the family should be bored. There are also several museums/ and halls for rotating exhibits. We spent a most enjoyable morning strolling at our leisure along the paved pathways. Although busy, It was not at all crowded. We thus enjoyed the added advantage of close scrutiny of the plantings. The promise of a bountiful display of day lilies, rhododendrons and hydrangea, to name just a few of the many, many plantings, will surely bring me back! This is a wonderful attraction to bring your guests to when visiting at your home in the South Shore or Cape area. Making it an even more delightful attraction to visit was the very helpful /friendly staff and the access accommodations for those with limited walking endurance, handicapped and children.

Waterfall, labyrinths, carousel, Hidden Hollow, even a car museum. And lots of open space and trails to let the kids run around. With the gardens throughout, it will have a totally different look in a few weeks too. Well worth the price and they have a promotion with Free Fridays during the summer.

There is something for everyone at the Heritage Museum and Gardens on Grove Street in Sandwich Village, Massachusetts. The setting is phenomenal with the Lakes, woodlands and sculptured gardens topped with 3 of the best museums in New England. The Shaker Barn with its world-class collection of Antique Cars is just delightful, one is transported back to the era of the unique cars on display. You will leave thinking of your favorite; maybe the Deusenberg of Gary Cooper or the Stanley Steamer that was airborne while competing in Florida or maybe one of the old Fire-Engines.
One of the other museums that houses the Antique Carousel ( that you can ride ) in the Round Barn and is part of the Museum with changing displays of American art and its' own permanent collections. The other Museum on the property has Sports memorabilia and Civil War History and Revolutionary War with both traveling and permanent exhibitions.
The gardens and grounds are extraordinary with areas special to everyone; the "Hidden Hollow", the Lily collections, the vast array of acres and acres of Rhododendrons and Woods to roam at one's leisure.
I have never been disappointed at the Heritage Museum and Gardens. After at least 50 visits I still find something new and exciting.

This is a beautiful place to visit, especially if you like old cars! There is an entire building dedicated to them. The gardens are absolutely stunning and there is a cart that travels throughout the grounds to transport those who can't or don't desire to walk long distances. Look for children's activities. This is a large area and is good for solos, couples, families and friends.
