Went twice here in a period of a couple of months, first trying Italian, then seafood. All were very disappointing, even tasteless, and not as fresh as they should have been. It used to be a very good spot for family dining, but it's really slipped; certainly not what it used to be, and there are several better spots in town now.

Back in the day every Cape Cod town had a place like the Sagamore Inn - sort of a roadhouse w/ restaurant , bar , sometimes a few rooms. This place is one of the last of its kind. Redone nicely but not too foo-foo. Have made two visits in 3 months. Specialties are fried fish dishes and Italian and they scored on both accounts. Our no-fish eater said his steak tips were flavored nicely (marinated?) and done just right. Have seen some pizzas go by that look well worth a try. The service is both efficient and homey. If you find yourself between the two bridges on Rt 6 it's well worth the stop.

The Sagamore is a local legend that current owners, Sue and Mark, have owned for almost five years. They have made steady updates to the overall establishment brightening it up and making it fresh. The food is consistently good with seafood and Italian dishes topping the list. Fried clams are excellent and the fried lobster tail is an interesting twist on a local standard. They feature several drinks made from local 888 vodka to go with your tasty morsels. And don't forget your stuffed quahog and clam chowder, a full meal itself. If you live near by or visit occasionally, it's worth it to sign up for their mailing list which provides relatively consistent coupons and an annual birthday dinner.
The building itself is not the original, but it's been so long that most folks wouldn't know the difference. This one has had a few different purposes along the way including service station and brothel. There are doorbells in some very random places that were supposedly used in the brothel days to warn of police or unsavory guests approaching. The owners talk of a ghost or two who appear to have some opinions of their own.
An excellent sign of a worthy establishment was seeing the previous owner having a drink at the bar and the current owners having dinner at a booth, all at the same time.

I hadnt been to the Inn in about 30 years and was glad I made the trip back. We had fish and chips, fried scallops and an eggplant veal parm combo. Scallops were sweet and the fish batter was light and real schrod was used.
