Certificate of Excellence

Our expectations were truly exceeded! We chose Addison Choate based on their website information and Trip Advisor reviews. Frankly, the photos don't do the Inn justice, and while it's prior Trip Advisor reviews are certainly excellent, our experience was both wonderful and memorable.

Our room was well appointed with plush linens and period-furnishings, and our bed was extremely comfortable. All the rooms have private baths and AC - which we used as it ended up being quite hot and humid. Our closet had plush bathrobes, and the bath linens were pristine, soft and fluffy.

The Innkeeper, Jan, was friendly, helpful and made us feel right at home. She offered excellent suggestions for places for dinner and things to see, and as well, gave us a tour of the common areas (TV room, fireplace and piano area), and suggested we enjoy them, including a complementary port.

We were quite comfortable during our stay in that we had the perfect amount of interraction vs alone-time. Inns are typically larger with private baths and more privacy/less personal interaction, and B & Bs tend to be smaller often with shared baths and more personalized service/less privacy. Jan was super helpful, had great suggestions, and provided multiple methods of contacting her at whatever time, if we had questions or needed anything. At the same time it was our anniversary and we had all the privacy we wanted/needed. I guess you could say the Addison Choate provide the best of both the B & B vs Inn worlds in one package.

Breakfast consisted of a hand-made, yummy hot entree (one was a particularly delicious frittata-esque egg dish with spinach and guerre), plus an assortment of fresh fruits, cereals, yogurt, and breads for toasting. Keurig coffee service was provided as well as hot water for tea, and fresh juice selections. We ate outdoors at one of the little wicker tables on the porch, which is bordered by well-tended flower beds and boxes. The grounds are quite beautiful, and eating outdoors is a great way to start the day.

Our stay at the Addison Choate Inn in Rockport was over Memorial Day weekend, and parking was at a premium. The Inn has it's own small parking area on-site, and is located within a short 1/4 mile walk to the downtown/Bearskin Neck area with its shops and restaurants.

We'll definitely stat at Addison Choate the next time we need a Rockport fix, which hopefully won't be too far in the future.

My friend and I had a great stay at Nancy's. She went out of her way to be a great host - she gave us lots of time and lots of info, a warm welcome, on tap refreshments and excellent US breakfasts ! This is everything a US inn should be !
It was real fun too as the large breakfast table makes for a house party type atmosphere over breakfast and we had great fun with Nancy and the other guests.
The comfortable lounge and separate TV room are an asset. Beds are super comfy and bedrooms are charming.
If I am ever in Rockport again, this is, without a doubt, where I'll stay !

Nancy was all smiles and very accommodating. We had a wedding in Gloucester and didn't spend much time perusing the property; however, it appeared to be very clean and they did a great job with seasonal flours in all corners of the property (inside and out). Breakfast was very enjoyable and the rooms were filled... so no lack of good conversation at the table. We stayed in "Lucy's Room" and found the bed very comfortable and the private bath was a much needed bonus! Thank you Nancy for enhancing our wedding experience!

My husband and I stayed at the Addison Choate this past July, what a beautiful B and B.
The rooms are spacious and immaculate, with much attention to details. We've stayed in many B and B's and this is truly the best of the best. The hostess, Nancy, is so helpful, she really pays attention to your needs. I am finally getting around to writing this review because I really believe they deserve to be praised. You truly get your money's worth at the Addison Choate. We would definately stay there again and look forward to our next visit.

We recently stayed at the Addison Choate Inn on a 3 week trip to the USA. It was a marvellous stay in a lovely home in a beautiful town. The house is very cosy and Nancy is a very welcoming host. Our bedroom was very spacious and spotless, there was everything we could possibly want . It was great to have breakfast on the veranda and Nancy's cooking is truly excellent.
There are lots of lovely restaurants in Rockport and lots of lovely lobster. We wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We made our 1st visit to Rockport last week to attend a wedding and fell in love with the area. We didn't want to leave, so decided to extend our stay by a couple of days - the Emerson Inn where we were staying was booked up, so we moved to the Addison Choate. This turned out to be a fantastic "inconvenience"!

The Addison is a superb B&B - anyone who has stayed in a bunch over their travels knows what this means - great location, warm innkeepers and meticulous attention to details. The Addison has this in spades. The rooms are all unique and lovely, spotlessly clean and chock full of little charming details. Nancy is just so friendly and great to talk to, you feel right at home. They are obviously very serious about running this B&B with quality attention.

Other perks - free parking, which you will appreciate when you discover how difficult it is to find a parking spot in town! Wifi in all rooms, and air conditioning. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed here recently to attend a wedding in Rockport. I booked online during the winter and they accepted the one nite stay which other places in the area would not do and is not typical of this area in the summer months. so we got lucky. Upon arrival, we were greeted and checked in by Nancy, the innkeeper, who was very nice. Iced tea (best I have had) and chocolate chips cookies were laid out in the dining room. Iced tea was very welcome as it was very hot and one of the hottest summers in Massachusetts in a long time.
The room was spotless and comfortable. A nice breakfast of cereal, fresh fruit and an upside down french toast stratta was served buffet style which you can take outside and eat at little tables on the porch. Nice touches such as fresh flowers all around rooms and on tables. My husband and I have stayed at many bed & breakfast and inns over the years. This one is on the very small side but it was very comfortable and we were made to feel welcome. Bed linens, room and bathroom were spotless. Great location with onsite parking and within walking distance from Bear Skin Neck and all the shops and restaurants. I would not hesitate to recommend staying here for a visit to Rockport. Resonably priced for that time of year when everythng here in the summer is so expensive in this area.
