Gorgeous view, but you can hear everything in the rooms around you. Breakfast is off property. Room is a little funky. Deck is great. Big problem was we were woken up at 1:00am and then by another guest at 6:00 am.

My husband and I have stayed at many B&B's on the East Coast and this was our favorite to date! Randy was so friendly and hospitable. He made lots of restaurant recommendations, was always there to take a picture or give advice on what to do, etc. We stayed in the Neptune room, which was amazing! I could not stop staring at the views from our room, they were just unbelievable. We had a private deck which was perfect for sitting outside and reading while listening to the waves. The rooms were a decent size with updated flat screen TV's and comfortable beds. Even if you don't have the private deck, there are tables and chairs set up right along the water to relax, read, enjoy a glass of wine, etc. It's only a couple minutes drive into the adorable downtown of Rockport and Gloucester. We did afternoon trips to Salem and Newburyport. It's a perfect location to be able to roam around from town to town and find quaint little places to visit. Breakfast being offsite was not an issue for us at all. We enjoy trying different restaurants, so we did not take advantage of the included breakfast down the street. BUT the included breakfast is LITERALLY down the street. I don't see why this would be that much of an issue if you were going to be leaving the property to sightsee right after breakfast anyway. Overall it was a great experience and we hope to return someday!!

Spent one night in the Garden State room. Three flights up. Arrived at night so didn't see the view until sunrise. Was stupendous. Room was comfortable with two room air conditioners. A little noisy but did the job. Beds were comfortable. Coffee, Tea and ice available downstairs, simple breakfast available at another hotel. We passed on the breakfast and headed to downtown Gloucester for breakfast. Wished we had more time to enjoy the deck and view. One comment, owner should provide some simple breakfast for guests. You should be able to enjoy coffee and pastry on the deck for the beautiful sunrise and sunsets especially for the price of the accommodation. Get there early to enjoy the sunset. Parking is limited. Cancellations are a problem should your plans change. Overall a good stay.

Room Tip: I think most of the rooms are water facing but you certainly want to confirm that before booking.

We were greeted on arrival by the owner who graciously took our bags down the rather steep walk. Stayed in the Oriental room on the second floor but think we should have opted for the third floor which is bigger. Think they were saving that just in case a bigger party arrived.

The room is a little cramped but the view out the picture somewhat makes up for it. There is a very nice deck, comfortable to sit and read in the sun. Our weather was fantastic and that made the view and deck even more enjoyable. You can lie in bed in the morning and watch the sun come up (did that twice.) Also were blessed with a full moon reflecting off the water at night.

Bed was very comfortable, bathroom was ample but the shower head was terrible. Hint to ownership - replace the shower head!

Other negative was the fact that breakfast, although complimentary, was served at another hotel over a mile away and was rather limited. There is a large inn next door. Can't figure out why arrangements could not be made for breakfast there, just a short walk down the road. Otherwise a car is a must.

Coffee available in the lobby. Nice yard in front on the ocean with place to sit and read if you want to.

Enjoyed stay

Room Tip: As said. Check out the room on the third floor.

We stayed in the Challenge room in late September. This room is toward the back and shares a deck with the oriental room. Oriental room was not booked so we had a magnificent view all to ourselves. Also have nicely landscaped grounds with lots of seating. Very relaxing outside and linens were excellent quality. Breakfast spot is located about a mile away in the Rock Inn and Suites dining room. It was your basic continental breakfast but waffles could be ordered from waitress for no charge. Randy is very accommodating. Parking is situated directly off of a busy road so care must be taken when backing out.

My wife and I had a chance for a 4 day weekend on Cape Ann in August. The Quarterdeck Inn was just what the doctor ordered!. Randy, the proprietor was gracious and very helpful, whether it was helping us make a late dinner reservation when we arrived (he knows everyone in town) or after our stay, finding and mailing us a couple of left-behind articles which we didn't even realize we had left! The view is just gorgeous. The rooms are clean and homey. The Keurig coffee service is just what's needed. If you are looking for traditional bed and breakfast for the "breakfast" part, this is not for you as breakfast is vouchered at another inn, However, the best breakfast in town is at the Red Skiff in town, anyway. So just help yourself to the coffee and head into town for breakfast.
We happened to be there for the town fireworks display just to the south on Saturday night and the view from the deck just off our room (The Oriental) made us feel that the fireworks were for us alone. Thank you, Randy!

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a shore-facing room. Whale watch cruise from Gloucester was phenomenal.
