The Seaward

Our family has been meeting in Rockport for 25 years, the last 9 at the Seaward Inn.
It is a great place for us to meet, this year the head-count was 19. From age 4 to 67 each person looks forward to our September weekend on Cape Ann. The kids even play 'packing a bag' and heading to the bedroom. Nancy and her staff welcome us back each year to the crisp autumn air and beautiful seaside location adding to our family memories. An older generation started this adventure and thanks to Seaward Inn my generation knows it will pass to the next.

This was our second visit to the Seaward Inn and we will be back again. The Inn has a quaint, unpretentious charm while still being extremely comfortable. Our second floor room this time was "Lover's Cove" and it had a beautiful view of Gully Cove. We saw amazing sunrises each morning over the water and the garden is laden with summer flowers. I am an artist and very much enjoyed painting in the garden overlooking the sea. A very wonderful breakfast is included with your stay and the service was excellent.

Room Tip: We loved Lover's Cove. It was spacious and had a beautiful view.

We had a wonderful weekend getaway at the Seaward Inn for the Fourth of July. It is a great location right on the water with beautiful views. It is in an adorable neighborhood with gorgeous flowers. Nice areas for walking. Our room was decorated very nicely with a comfortable bed. There was a good assortment for breakfast each morning. And you get to sit and eat it with a great view of the ocean. I would definitely return!

This inn/b&b is a favorite for many repeat visitors, although this was our first stay. On google, the inn is 1.4 miles from the center of Rockport, but really it is about a miles via the garden sea walking path along the ocean. In the heat of July, with the tough parking in town, we did this walk multiple times in the day and found it enjoyable. Also the quiet, ocean front location is easily worth the walk. Our room on the third floor overlooked the sea and was great to wake up smell the salt water. The only weakness was the AC that we needed for one of the three nights and was manageable. We took in the Shalin Lui Concerts by the sea each evening and walked on two of the evenings. The inn has a modest cold dish dinner that we had held for us after one of the shows to eat on their garden dinning room as the sun set.
Breakfast was buffet style, but with omelets and music on Sunday mornings, but otherwise a standard spread.

This is beautifully situated overlooking the sea. There is a lovely walk along the cliffs to Rockport which takes about 15mins, otherwise 5 mins by car.

A very friendly welcome when booking in and throughout our stay they were always ready to help. It was rather cold in the rooms due to unseasonal weather and they were kind enough to put on the heating. We had room 109 which was large and spacious with a side view to the sea. The bed was large and very comfy. Both the room and the vintage bathroom were very clean. Our friends had room 108, slightly smaller but just as comfortable.

Breakfast was either a buffet or from the large menu. The sous chef took great delight in ensuring customers were pleased with their food which we definitely were! Coffee/tea and home-made biscuits were available for most of the day but being a Brit, I would have really loved coffee/tea making facilities in the room for an early morning drink.

There are rooms to sit and relax at the Inn, if the weather is kind, there is nothing better thsn sitting gazing out to sea.

I would certainly stay there again. No wonder it has been in existence for 67 years. Do look at their website. It is exactly as the owners have described it.

We ate at Alchemy in Gloucester and Brackets in Rockport

Stayed in the Gull's Nest with my wife and two very young girls.

Very pleasant inn, our room was in a building set off to the side, which was very quiet and convenient. Seemed much better for our needs, with the young ones, main inn appeared to be very nice but probably a better option for couples.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Located about a mile from downtown Rockport, right across from the ocean with beautiful reviews.
Would definitely like to return.

Frankly, some of these reviews strike me as very unrealistic. When you stay at an older place with character on the cusp of the ocean, you are not going to get a new Marriott. Every place will be a bit worn with some quirks. In this context, this place is very comfortable and a good option for this area.
