On the tip of Cape Ann, just outside picturesque Rockport, Massachusetts, is the remains of quarry, and a spectacular vista of the ocean. Waves crashing against the rocks, peaceful water which filled the quarry, a glimpse into the past of New England. Very short and easy hike in from the parking lot.

This location has the view of both the water-filled quarry and of the ocean. The trail down to the oceanfront is a little steep, but the trail around the quarry is flat. Parking is $2. The location is just a couple of miles from downtown Rockport and its shops and eateries.

Pretty walk through woods then you get to the old granite quarry which is rather spectacular, walk around it to an overlook of the ocean. We didn't walk down to the ocean this time but will definitely do so when we visit again.

After paying a $2 fee to park, you walk down a short path and come first to the old Babson Farm Quarry that has been filled with water. That alone is beautiful. Near the quarry, there is a small visitor's center with maps and restrooms. If you keep walking a little bit further, you will come to one of the most impressive views of the ocean with the waves crashing onto the granite rocks. According to the placard, you can see New Hampshire and Maine from this point. The path is relatively flat and easy to manage. We stopped here for about half an hour to take pictures, but you could bring a picnic and spend an afternoon here.
