“You can't swim at Revere Beach”
Reviewed February 29, 2012

I would not swim at Revere Beach. Everytime I have been there you can see red bacteria on the sand. Although it may be nice to walk (with shoes one) along the water, I don't think it is healthy to spend any time there.

“Quite nice in winter, mobbed in summer”
Reviewed February 27, 2012

My GF like to walk here, and a few weeks ago, we went here on an unseasonably warm (high 40s and sunny) Sunday. The beach is broad, and not well groomed in winter, and many dog-walkers and dogs off leash do leave occasional waste. However, it's a really nice place to walk on the hard sand at low tide. There are a few cute restaurants with sorta-fast food along the boardwalk, and we found one that made a HUGE Greek salad with pita that was delicious. During the winter, there is plenty of street parking, but I'd bet it is parked up quickly when it's warmer. Locals tell me the beach gets crowded with big families and boom-boxes blaring in the summer - real estate developers have long ago snapped up and closed off much of the MA shore, so one cannot blame the citizens for the crowding.

“Disappointment... in beach form.”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

Having traveled a lot, I have been to beautiful tropical beaches on islands and coastlines all over the world. But i have also been to amazing city-beaches, with excellent cleanliness, good eating options and beachside activities. Revere Beach has to rank as the worst City-Beach i have ever seen. There is nothing pretty or delicate about the natural environment and the commercial development is very sub-par (want to get some food... there are about 2 options and neither are appetizing). I would recommend going further north if you're looking for a day trip to the beach from Boston, our favorites are Crane Beach and Wingershaek (especially if you can get yourself into the private section of Wingershaek... beautiful!)

In the winter/spring season, great beachcombing, nice hard sand to walk on at low tide.
